it does not bother me when i see my favorite names or my daughters name, because im going to use that name no matter how many people name their babies that name.

I like seeing their names come up, but when they start coming up a bit too much I'm a #3 (especially with Hazel, which I'm hoping looses its popularity soon...).
I like seeing my favorites. For all my love of data, I don't really care very much how popular my favorite names get. I love some top 10s, some top 100s, some top 1,000s, and top 10,000s.
That said, I have never seen anyone mention my favorite girl's name (Oona) in any thread but my own, and my favorite boy's name (Asa) comes up only occasionally.
For the most part, it's #1, except the "I know I'm on the right track with my naming style" bit. Dude, I don't need reassurance from a bunch of internet strangers on my style. I like a lot of names this board likes, I like a lot of names this board despises. I don't need a "stamp of approval" to determine what I like.
However I do feel a little bit of #3 for my existing children. I didn't really want Theodore to get popular.
I said #3 and in the exact same situation since I have a Theodore as well. I was surprised to see it jump 30 spots last year. For future names I don't mind seeing them some but if any of them start increasing quite a bit then I will change my list.
I love it. Not because I feel the need for validation on this board, but because I feel kind of a fun sense of solidarity with other Betsy moms. I don't think Betsy will ever be in the Top 20, and I don't think Elizabeth will ever be out of the Top 20, so ranking/popularity is kind of a non-issue.
I feel a mix of #1 and 3. My favorite names are unusual, so I don't see them too often and I get a little thrill when I do. On the other hand, I would hate for them to become trendy, and so that fear is usually lurking also.
Re: How do you feel when you see your favorite names?
I voted for #1 for future children.

I wish I didn't see DS's name as much as I do, but in all reality I rarely see it IRL so it doesn't bother me much.
I will use a name that is popular if I like it.

Yep this is me too. I feel silly for caring, but I can't help it!
