If you have or are in the process of adopting in the toddler or preschool age range (about 2-5) did you go through a private agency or DSS? Just trying to figure out what the best route may be to go through to increase our chances of the age range we would prefer.

I love my rainbow baby!
we did an international adoption, from Korea. We used a large, national agency. Our son came home 3 weeks ago- he'll be 22 months old this weekend. I know for Korea, many of the kids are coming home as toddlers now because of changes in the process from the Korean side. We didn't expect to bring home a chid this age- our son was 8 months old when we were matched with him. He is our first child, and we honestly were a little scared to go right into parenting an almost 2 year old. BUT, its been fun :-) CRAZY BUSY, but fun. I think hes at a great age, and is just soaking up everything we're doing with him, everything we're teaching him, etc. sure, we missed out on the baby phase of parenting... but we live that through our friend's babies :-)
Its pretty rare to adopt a toddler or preschooler via private domestic adoption so your main choices would be international adoption or adopting from foster care. Two vastly different options - pros and cons to both.
