DS has been walking while holding our hands and taking a few steps here and there since his 1 year birthday pretty much. How long does it take for them to start walking fully?
My little guys is in the same place - he stands independently now quite often and he'll sometimes take 5 or 6 steps - but mostly likes to hold onto furniture or crawl. I know walking is coming soon....... just not sure how soon.
Depends on the child. DD1 was cruising along furniture/walking holding hands at about 8 months, took her first independent steps at 12 months, and started really walking independently about 2 weeks after her first steps.
DD2 was pulling to standing at 7 months, but did very little cruising along furniture or walking holding hands. She took her first steps at 10.5 months, then nothing for 2 weeks. At exactly 11 months she started taking more steps again, and within about a week she was walking well independently.

My LO went from first steps at 11.5 months, to fully independent walking about a month later. He never liked holding hands, so he didn't really do that.
DD started walking while we held on to her really early--if we held her under her armpits, she would walk at 3m. She started doing it holding on to our fingers probably around 6m. She took her first steps at 8.5m and walking everywhere on her own by 9m. I think she would have started earlier if I would have trusted her more and just let go of her fingers. When she took those first steps at 8.5m, I just let go and she took a few--no coaxing or more than one attempt necessary.
Does he stand on his own? If so, I say just let go and sit a foot or so in front of him and try to coax him to you.
My son is still working on the whole walking independently thing. He can do it, but he is so very cautious... and he has been doing this for about 3 months now!
DS would NEVER and still doesnt hold our hands, so he pretty much learned to walk all on his own. He's just been a very independent baby. He went from a few steps then falling to flat out running/climbing in about a month.
