Pregnant after 35

Cautiously introducing myself

Hi everyone! I just wanted to introduce myself on this board. DH and I went through 3 painful years of IF treatments due to PCOS and also suffered a miscarriage. We were finally blessed with our beautiful daughter who is now 4 years old. We finally decided to TTC again in the beginning of this year, but didn't want to go through those treatments again. So we've been trying on our own. We didn't think we could do it, but here I am, 36 and pregnant with #2. I am so scared, and nervous and so excited all at the same time. But we are being very cautious because of my history of a previous mc, my age and all those other factors. When I was pg with DD, they found some abnormalities during the screenings. I never did the amnio because we figured we wouldn't change anything otherwise. And she came out to be perfect. Now that I am at the AMA, I'm afraid that those screenings will come out with abnormalities and they would be correct. I have irregular periods, but based on my LMP, I am only at 5 weeks, and I'm already a nervous wreck. I still need to make an appointment with my dr. next week to confirm this pregnancy. But so much can happen between now and then. So I'm hoping to find info and support amongst you. No one other than DH and I know about this pregnancy yet, so I'm pretty much on my own for now. I wish we can celebrate this pregnancy more. I guess gone are the days when people would celebrate once they got their bfp's. Anyway, I'm looking forward to meeting everyone here and please know that I will give as much support and info as I can to you guys too :)

Re: Cautiously introducing myself

  • Hi bunches, and welcome! So sorry for the trials you have been through and your previous loss. I like to think it's a good sign that you conceived naturally--hopefully that means a tough and sticky bean. On this particular board, 36 is not all that old--I am 5 years older than you (and it's my first pregnancy, no other previous successes like you) and there are ladies who are 44 and 45 here too.

If you are interested in getting more info at an earlier stage, you could consider a CVS at 10-12 weeks.

Fx for a sticky bean and a H&H 9 months for you!

  • Wow! congrats on the natural conception this time around. Hopefully it will keep well for you and DH!
(And a promising story I can hopefully soon share with my cousin who also did IF for PCOS for her first and is dreading if it will be as difficult if they try for a second.)

  • Congratulations ! I shared on this board before I felt comfortable being able to tell people IRL and it felt good to write and know people understood. No one can take away the anxiety of those first weeks, for me, I prayed a lot and read a lot and tried to be a combo of busy and relaxed-ha ha. It's so hard to let go of things we can't control. Wishing you a great pregnancy!
