Toddler Bed

We are moving our 17mo old into a toddler bed & new room this weekend. Any tips or suggestions to help the move go smoothly for her. I'd love to hear everyones experience.

Your DD is fairly young so she might just treat the bed like she treats her crib.

For us, DD was 22 months when she switched and the only thing that helped was a gate at her door because she thought getting out of bed and coming into our room all.night.long. was a really fun game.

She was pissed about the gate for a few days and now after 1 quick check (maybe to make sure she isn't missing out on a party outside of her door?) she stays in bed all night.

Other things that helped were a dim night light near her bed and lights off in the hallway.  I think this actually made her find her bed more comforting/safe vs. the doorway because that is were the light was.  Moth to a flame. :-)

She is young so that's what I'm hoping but it's also why I'm so nervous. Especially since its a whole room change. We have a video monitor & a nightlight. I'm off Friday through Monday so we are going to try our first night on Thursday. We'll see!

I just couldn't bring myself to buy another crib.

No advice on my end. We are planing on moving DS next month. The only thing I can think of is to let her pick put some big girl bedding (or get the characters she likes). Good luck!
