Thrush ?

Has anyone else dealt with thrush?  My DS has it.  It started about 2 weeks ago.  I took him to the doctor and they put him on Nystatin for 7 days.  It seemed to help but now it's back.  They are calling in more Nystatin for me with the same instructions but it didn't seem to do the job last time so I'm looking for some mommy advice.  What did you do when your lo had it?  How did you apply the meds (if you were given any)?  Any other ideas?  His tongue seems to be hurting him when he tries to eat- I hate seeing him uncomfortable!  Any suggestions are appreciated!

Ask for diflucan instead of nystatin. The nystatin only got rid of one of my sons thrush, so we moved onto diflucan and it worked.

My twins had thrush. We finally had to use gentian violet and paint their hands with it also. It did the trick. Also, make sure you are sterilizing binkies and bottles.

This might sound strange, but are you nursing him or giving bottles? You can get this, also, and it looks the same on you.  I am asking because I got Thrush when DD was in the NICU, but we were very cautious about me giving to her.   I was prescribed the oral meds for yeast infection and we kept it contained.  I will say that it was nearly unbearable to eat, swallow, or do anything with my mouth due to the sores and sensitivity.  It was awful.  Hope the baby feels better soon!
