Hi! My son Kole is 11 weeks today and he is a really good sleeper at night in his crib. During the day however, he really wants nothing to do with his crib; he primarily will only sleep in his swing. I've tried so many times to put him to sleep for his naps in his crib but he'll last like 20-45 minutes where if I leave him in the swing he will go for a coupld of hours. I would really like to get him napping in his crib but need suggestions on how to get him to do it. Should I just leave him in his crib even if he wakes up after 20 minutes? Also, has anyone else tried to get "guide" their baby onto a sleep schedule during the day? He's so random about his eating and sleeping so I didn't know if it was too early or not.
Re: Sleep patterns during the day
Mine is the same. She will sleep for two hours in her swing and only 20-30 min in her crib. I tried every day for two weeks. I am over it and have just been putting her in the swing. Sometimes I don't turn the swing on, just to make sure she can fall/stay asleep without the movement. She is fine with that- I think she just likes the closeness of being confined. Everyone I talk to says she will grow out of it. I'm not so sure and am worried I am creating a bad habit, but for now that is what is working. I will keep trying the crib at least once a day for naps.
As far as a schedule, we follow the EASY pattern. Eat, Activity, Sleep, You. She eats around every three hours. So after she wakes, I feed her and then she is up playing for a little while. She is awake a total of around an hour and a half (including changing and feeding) before she goes back down. She kind of fell into the pattern on her own and it really helps to figure out what she may need if she's upset. I really like it.
My thoughts exactly.
Yesterday, my dd took a grand total of zero naps during the day. I don't know how this is even possible for her, but it's pretty typical.
this.
The EASY pattern does not work for my LO. I am "forcing" a couple of naps every day. But they are in my arms or on me.
At night she does great, last night we got 6h, then 2.5h, then 30 min.
She is napping on the boppy on my lap as I type. If I move she is wide-eyed awake!
this is us too...he will only fall asleep on me while nursing....If I even attempt to put him down, he''ll wake up. So therefore, he usually sleeps on the boppy on my lap and I'm usually on the bump.
I am glad I am not the only one!
