Hello Toddler Mommies!
I have been told my the pedo to get rid of the passy before baby #2 comes...which is only 6 weeks to go. I've been trying for the last 4 days to get rid of it...and it's not going good.
Little background...she only had a passy once in the hospital when she was first born but they did it by accident they didn't realize that she was being nursed but they also, gave it to her since she was under the light for jundice. Then she never had a passy again until she was 6 months old. My mom gave it to her to get take a bottle. Which I wasn't to happy about but now she's stuck on it. Granted she only uses it to go to bed and I've been going in her room after about 20 mins and taking it away.
For those of you that have already broke her LO's of thier passys. Please let me know how you did it? I have just tried putting her to bed without it and she cries so we end up just giving it to her. I usually let her go for about 10 mins before I give it to her.
Thanks in advance for your help!! ![]()
Re: Breaking the passy??
TTC since May 2006. After 3 failed Clomid cycles, 2 failed Injectibles/IUIs, 2 failed IVFs and 1 failed FET, we moved on to adoption!
Last ditch FET resulted in BFP, and identical twin girls!
If she knows you are going to come in after 10 minutes of crying, she'll keep it up because she knows you'll give in.
Just go cold turkey. Does she get it at naps? Maybe try getting rid of at naps first and then at night. Daycare lost his and so he stopped getting it at "school" and then we went cold turkey at home. He looked for it and cried the first night but for less then a minute and then after 3 days he stopped looking for it. We stopped around 15 months.
We did the Bye Bye Binky method which worked pretty well. He did eventually throw them away because they were "broken" but it took a few weeks for him to fully learn how to settle himself without it. You can google BBB.
Although I have to say, I'm not sure I'd do it right before the new baby comes. Poor thing is going to have enough disruption. But I'm not a pedi.
