Little one has IUGR and I have pre-e. Little One has had decels before even starting the induction process and they don't think he will tolerate labor well so I will get a c-section tomorrow at 12:30 with my doctor unless he decels again and then I will end up with an emergency c-section with the on-call doc.
Any insight? What should I expect?
Re: What should I expect?
I had a planned C/S and a couple things we requested were that no visitors were allowed to see/hold baby until we had plenty of family time just the three of us. We communicated that with our family and everyone knew that.
Know that they might not allow your husband in the OR when they are doing the spinal/epidural, but it will be ok. He'll be in shortly and soon you'll have your precious baby!
As far as recovery, just don't try to push yourself too hard. Definitely get moving, but do it slowly and with help. TAKE YOUR TIME GETTING IN AND OUT OF BED.
Take the pain meds. If they weren't brought to me every 4 hours, I called and requested them. I took them regularly for the 4 days in the hospital and only took them for 2 days after we got home. I continued to take tylenol for a few more days and was fine. Again, ask for help getting in and out of bed and don't try to lift too much too fast.
Try not to stress about it. You'll soon have your sweet boy in your arms!
Same issue for me. Decel's were the reason for my induction 38 weeks. After 28 hours and multiple decel episodes he couldn't tolerate the Pitocin and I agreed to a C section. Since it was unplanned and protested much by me, I felt the biggest thing I could at least control was ensuring that my own Dr. was there to do surgery. Luckily her shift started in the middle of the induction and since it didn't progress was able to plan to have her deliver me at end of her 24 hour shift.
As for LO- once out- I saw him for only a second and then he went to the NICU for heart monitoring- echo/ekg. He checked out okay and joined me before I was out of the recovery room.
The part I missed was holding/nursing in the delivery room and since I had a reaction to the morphine wasn't able to care for him for the first 24 hours. All was well in the end though. Good Luck.
