Sudden aversion to bath time

LO loved bath time...he'd happily play in there for hours.  One day last week he peed in the bathtub so I turned on the shower to wash him off.  He wasn't a fan of that at all.  Now every day at bath time he screams bloody murder the entire time.  :(  Will it pass once he sees we aren't going to turn the shower on him?  I feel so bad.

Re: Sudden aversion to bath time

  • My DD is going through this too. We didn't turn on the shower, so I assume it is just a phase, and she will get past it soon. Like your LO, she loved bath time, and the past 3 baths have been torture. I hope it passes soon, and I am sure he will soon forget the shower thing :)

  • Could it be an ear infection? DD often gets grumpy in the bath when she's sick. Otherwise, it's probably just a phase. Try to distract him with some new toys, or let him brush his teeth, or if all else fails, just bathe him quickly!

  • We didn't turn the shower on but she did slip a little one night a couple weeks ago. She didn't go under or anything...just scared her. Now she won't stop kneeling and hold on to the edge closest to me. If I try to sit her down to wash her hair (so the water doesn't dump on the floor from her leaning over the edge) she cries like she's terrified. :(   This has gone on for a couple weeks so I just bought her a new bath toy that sticks to the wall farthest from me with music and toys that you fit together. If she wants to play with it, she has to let go of the side and sit down. It's working! The last 3 baths have been so.much.better. GL!
