We bought a house in the country because we didn't want to deal with noisy neighbors' dogs, music, parties, etc. Well, all weekend somebody has been playing their music at full blast, so all I can hear is their bass thumping all. day. long. We're in a valley so you can't tell where the music is coming from. Not that we could do anything about it, since there's no noise ordinance out here.
But it's like, come on! Tractors, cows, lawn mowers, I couldn't care less. But your stupid music is the reason I wanted to get away from people! Turn it off and appreciate nature! Listen to the birds and the wind blowing through the trees. I feel bad for complaining about it, but I hate hate hate loud music/noise!
Maybe I am just being hormonal, but I just don't get why the interchange of the words gender and sex is suddenly such a big issue. It wasn't this way when I was on here with my last two. I would hope that most women know that sex is genetic and gender is psycological, but I know that some don't, doesn't mean I am going to correct their word usage.
To me, it seems that it is not so much a lack of education but a product of our culture. Sex is almost a taboo word and because of our culture we search for substitutes that are less taboo ie. gender. When was the last time you asked a pregnant woman 'what sex are you having?' really asking about if she is having a boy or girl? Or talked (IRL not online) about sex reveal parties or said that your big sex u/s is in x days/weeks?
Two weeks ago when we went to my SIL's house for my neice's 2nd birthday she announced that she was prego and due the month after me. She didn't even tell me because she was worried that I would be upset. Which is just silly. However I am NOW getting upset because my MIL acts like the world is ending when SIL is prego. For example I had to work day shift yesterday, we all talked about going out to eat after that, I told them I would be done around 4 and I had to pick up the kids but I would be over right after. when I got off work I called them and they were already out eating... Then today they insisted we come over at noon for the labor day cookout because SIL had to get home (she lives about two hours away), and BIL had to work at 2, nobody seemed to care that DH had to work 11pm to 7am, so much so that after he said he would try, they were calling him at 11 to see if he was still coming... It's just like the world revolves around everyone else and DH tends to get pushed to the side.
