Restless Sleeper - Need advice

Hi Ladies,

DD is almost 13 months and we co-sleep. Our issue is that she is a restless sleeper, she goes to sleep no problem but gets up 4+ times a night. She wakes up in the morning exhausted bc she isn't getting quality sleep, I am not a cio mom, I can't do it. But I don't know how to get her to sleep better, I don't mind if she gets up to nurse or once or twice but I want her to ger quality sleep. Any ideas/tips/advice?

  • Some kids wake up.  Some adults do too.

Doing partial night weaning helped my daughter (once a night) and realizing that she would partially wake up and be restless for an hour when she peed in her diaper but would go back to sleep right away if I just changed her also helped.

I won't lie, though, at 28mo old, she's still up a minimum of twice a night, and often more like three or four times.  She's a bit slow to wake up in the morning, but she's the same way on naps (and just takes after her father in the "hard to transition out of sleep" thing) but is otherwise fairly well rested, which I think is the main thing.

Since you say your LO isn't looking well rested, you might try the partial (or complete, if you prefer) night weaning, checking on diaper/temperature/etc. and then keep working on helping her get back to sleep.  It's hard.  I know!  (DD slept for 8hrs straight for only the second time - ever - last Friday night.)
