Toddlers: 12 - 24 Months

Toddler bed

For those of you who have moved your LO out of the crib, did you buy a toddler bed or a twin bed, or something else? We're planning on moving DS out of the crib once our new LO is ready to move out of our room and into her room in the crib.

Yesterday we looked at toddler beds at Ikea, and they seem so small. It won't last him long.

Re: Toddler bed

  • When I bought a second crib for my second baby, I made sure to get a convertible toddler bed. I will be keeping them both in cribs as long as I can, and then I will use the toddler conversion with my first son. If I didn't have the convertible crib, would definitely just go for the twin bed. It seems like a waste of money to buy a toddler bed when they use it for such a short period of time. I would think that a twin bed with a toddler rail would be fine.

  • We converted DD's crib to the toddler bed about 2 weeks ago. We plan to get her a twin bed by Christmas so that when #2 comes along in May she won't think the new baby is taking her bed even though the baby will be in our room for awhile.

  • My daughter just turned three and she needs a regular bed now.  She is very tall though (off the charts) However, her bed is just her crib converted...so a regular toddler bed might be a bit longer.

I was actually just looking at beds for her.
