I haven't done it yet, but how did you successfully take all 3 kids out? I took #3 to pedi by herself. Then I took my 2 toddlers for a short Target run. Any tips or strategies on how to take out 3u3?
I am going to try to do a play date, or at least a venue where the kids can be contained in a small play area.
How about going on shopping trips, to mall or Walmart? How do I keep the toddlers entertained? At Target I was telling them about everything we were seeing. Sometimes I let my oldest find and hold a toy for the whole shopping trip and give it back at the end (but that is when I took him out by himself).
Re: 3u3 - how did you get used to taking all kids out?
LOL! I have no idea. Ask me in a month or so, when hopefully I'll have accomplished that by then.
Up till now, I've been too scared.... We almost planned a mall trip but cancelled at the last minute. And I've had a few doctor appointments, but I got a sitter for the kids that didn't have to be there.
This, except we don't have any enclosed playgrounds nearby so my first trip alone with 3u3 was to Target. I didn't need to buy anything, just needed to get out of the house, so there was no pressure to get there at a certain time and I could leave at any point that it seemed overwhelming. At my Target, there are carts with two seats in front, so my toddlers sat in those and I put the infant carrier in the basket of the cart.
I also use my double stroller a lot as well, with the two toddlers in the stroller and I wear the baby, or if it's going to be a short trip, I sometimes put DDs 2 and 3 in the stroller, and let DD1 walk while holding onto the stroller with me. I generally only do that when we're going directly to a play area though, since we get around much faster when she's riding in the stroller.
You'll find a groove that works for you getting the kids in and out of the house/car. For me, my DD2 is a runner, so I pick her up, open the door and DD2 walks out and waits as I pick up the infant carrier. Then I set the carrier on the ground, lock the door, pick the carrier back up all while holding DD2, and then DD1 has to hold onto the diaper bag and walk with me to the car. I put the carrier on the ground and strap DD2 in the car first. From there it doesn't really matter which kid goes in next. I do the reverse when unloading the kids from the car.
