Would you consider ingesting your baby's placenta?

Re: Would you consider ingesting your baby's placenta?

  • Umm, no, but why post this on the Birth Stories board?

  • Wrong board, but I absolutely would consider placenta encapsulation. The terror of having ppd out weighs any ick factor or me.

  • Would you consider plugging your nice blog somewhere else?  =)  I like reading these stories and your post clearly does not belong on this board.

  • That is really nasty! A coworker knew of another coworker at her former job that did that.
  • Through encapsulation, absolutely. The benefits make it more than worth it.

  • 1. This does not belong here.

    2. You are wrong. You can store or donate cord blood and keep your placenta.

    - think about it. You can cut off the cord to keep it and the placenta does not magically disappear when this happens.

stop posting your garbage on a board when you have no facts to support what you are saying. Until you are afraid to the point where you debated leaving your newborn with your husband and taking off. When PPD gets that bad. You have NO right to say that it isn't legit.

  • The OP has been advertising her blog on multiple boards.  She doesn't really care about the answer to the question.  OP, go somewhere else, preferably BabyGaGa.

Because this board gets a lot of views and she wanted everyone to visit her blog. I didn't click on the link for that reason. To answer OP's question, no. But I know someone who has 5 kids and ate the placenta after each delivery (more power to her).

  • I am definitely considering encapsulation.

I can't afford cord blood banking and you just never know - there are a lot of things it could potentially be good for and once you lose it, you lose it for good. I'm sure plenty of the things many very expensive pharmaceuticals started out as were plenty gross too.

Amen sister!  This OP is clearly immature and uninformed.   And has clearly never had PPD, or studied the research behind "placenta encapsulation".  The correct term for 'ingesting the placenta', which I highly doubt many people actually do raw and whole as you make it out to be.  I fully intend to encapsulate the placenta this time around.  I  could really care less if anyone judges me for it either.  As a mature adult, I don't look at it as 'eww, gross, nasty', etc.  Read about the science behind it, then you can developed an informed stance on it.  What a joke.  Get over yourself and find something interesting to blog about other than this trash...
