Update to Sick (rant) but this isnt a rant..

Went to the dr yesterday. i love my OB they stayed open a little later just to fit me in. what do i have? Strep :) yay me. once again lol. a small back story on that not so usuall reaction.

My tonsiles are chronically infectd, Whenever i get sick, it turns into strep, always, no doubt, all the time, strep. I've had this going on since i was in grade school and before i had DD i use to have it about 4-9 times a year. yet my dr still wont take my tonsiles out.

So the usual goes for me, Sleeping (yay another excuse to nap for this prego lady lol) lots of water (yes because the gallon i drink every day isnt enough right?) my meds (oh thank god for penicillin) and hot water+lemon juice+honey "tea"

Is anyone else starting to get sick now that the weather is changing?

I said, "Oh my, what a marvelous tune" It was the best night, never would forget how we moved. The whole place was dressed to the nines, And we were dancing, dancing Like we're made of starlight Like we're made of starlight. ~TS AlternaTickers - Cool, free Web tickers Lilypie Second Birthday tickers Photobucket

  • I know how you feel I'm a strep magnet too. One year in high school, I had it 8 times. I haven't been sick yet this year, knock on wood, but the weather hasn't changed much here yet.
Hope you feel better!!! Enjoy the rest at least!

  • Aww sorry to hear, I hope you feel better soon!  I haven't been sick yet but a couple of mornings I've woken up with that "not really sore throat but might turn into a sore throat soon".  I'm hoping it'll just pass and it's because my mouth and throat are usually dry first thing in the morning, and that it's not because I'm getting sick!  One of my cravings has been tomatoes so I think I'm getting more vitamins than I need to lol so hopefully it will keep colds at bay.

  • Hope you feel better soon. A few weeks ago I was congested and had a bad cough but nothing else so far. Why won't your doc take them out?

I'm a school teacher and I get bronchitis and laryngitis every October no matter what I do to avoid it. Fingers crossed I don't get it this year!

  • that sucks your doctor won't take them out! Not saying having them out is any fun!  I had the same problem as you.  It finally took 6 months of nonstop strep for them to take mine out.  I would suggest making an appointment with an ENT specialist.  Your doctor probably wouldn't be the one doing the surgery anyway.  It wouldn't hurt to get a second opinion.  my ENT was great!  having them out sucked!  big time, but well worth it in the end!  I haven't had strep almost a year!  and I can breath better (and no more snoring!)

  • I had mine out when I was 17 and yeah, it sucked, but I'm so much healthier now. It just used to be that every time I had a bad allergy day (and I live in Florida so that's year round) it would drain down my throat and my tonsils would get infected. Junior year of high school I missed a month of school because I was sick non-stop for a month and they tested me for everything and finally said my tonsils were rotting and needed to be taken out. I haven't had strep since and really only a few sore throats. If you get them that often I would definitely try to see an ENT about getting them out because once your kids are in school around all those germs, every time they get sick, you're gunna get it too. I hope you feel better!

  • I know how you feel. It has been a few years since I got a tonsile infection but for several years when I was in school I got 1-2 every year, and lucky me they were always during winter/spring/summer break so I never missed school for them lol. What made it worse was I have huge tonsiles to begin with so when they'd get swollen they'd touch so I could barely even drip water down my throat which often resulted in me ending up in the ER for dehydration. Each time I got an infection my doctor would tell me that "next time" they'd have to remove my tonsiles.... I still have them.
