My water "pierced", i.e., my underwear and bedding were damp. Amniotic fluid was confirmed on a microscope. Hours and hours later, my midwife re-broke the bag, and there was a giant gush. You cannot miss that feeling like a water balloon just burst open between your legs. However, they did treat me as though my water had broken as far as timing, when they confirmed amniotic fluid was leaking.
