What age to start using Jumparoo/Exersaucer things?

Just curious, as a FTM I have no idea.

Re: What age to start using Jumparoo/Exersaucer things?

  • I've been using the Exersaucer since 2 months, but my LO already had great head control and trunk strength. I roll up towels to snug her into the seat.  Her legs have been able to reach the floor for a while, so now she really loves it.

It's a really nice break from holding her all the time! When we eat dinner, we put her in it and place it between our chairs.  She's happy as a clam and we both get to eat dinner with both hands!

If you haven't already bought one and don't want to spend $50+ on it, try Craigslist. I got one for myself and my mom's house for $10 each, and they are easy to clean.

  • Thanks!  We're actually buying one from our neighbors.  Their daughter is 6 months older than ours and outgrew hers.  I loved the look of theirs, and their daughter seemed to love it.  Here's hoping our little guy does too!

He has only recently begun reaching and grabbing for toys (in the past 2-3 weeks), but he loves to "stand".  So I was thinking he might be ready.  He also has killer strong neck control!

  • My daughter hAs been wanting to be held standing basically all the time now, so we just went out and bought the exersaucer.  She LOVES it and started using it at 3.5 months.

  • I've been checking craigslist the last 2 weeks cause lil one it ready.  He loves standing up and sitting up so I figure it's time.  Your LO will let you know.

  • Yep, we just got one for our LO last weekend since he has been using one at the sitter's house. He is still too little for it, and can't touch the ground even on the lowest setting, but we just put a stool underneath so he can touch and push off of it, and he loves it! We also needed to roll up some blankets behind his back since his trunk control isn't stellar yet, but with the blankets and the stool he does great in it. I agree it's awesome to have because we can put him in it, and my husband and I can eat dinner at the table together again!

  • really depends on their head control. I think we started using them around 3 months-ish. She LOVES her jolly jumper.
