Intermittent fetal monitoring, rather than constant monitoring
To be able to walk around, shower or use birthing ball
To not be offered pain medications or epidural unless I request them
To avoid an episiotomy
Postpartum
I would like immediate skin to skin contact with baby for bonding and breastfeeding
To delay any non-urgent medical procedures
All newborn procedures to take place in the my presence, or in my husband?s presence if I cannot be there.
Please do not
Give my baby a bath until at least 24 hours after her birth
Offer my baby a pacifier, formula, or sugar water (unless necessary)
If you wanted to be shorter and sweeter, I would delete these phrases I bolded. No one should offer you pain meds or epi --period. And paci, formula and sugar water would not be necessary in the delivery, so that seems silly. If she's not gaining weight, that's something you'll talk to the doc about.
