Non-clicky poll: Nesting?

Just curious what forms your nesting is taking?  Apparently nesting for me equals crafting, I can't stop!  DH came home last night and I'd started a new painting project for the nursery, so he asked where I was planning on putting it since the walls are pretty much full!  I told him I decided I didn't really like one of the other paintings I'd already done and was going to switch it, but apparently he LOVES the other one! Haha.  So instead I'm going to do a new project for our dining room... my nesting is just going to take over the house!

So I'm curious... what form is your nesting in?  I've also started gradually stocking the freezer meals... and my cleaning has picked up very slightly... but clearly I'm not an obsessive cleaning nester... kinda wish I was.

  • That's too funny!

I just finished my courses yesterday (working on a business degree, taking a hiatus for baby) and I am so freaking excited to start nesting!  I've been dying to for a few weeks now.  We've ordered the furniture for the nursery, it's being delivered in the next week or so, but other than that no preps have been made.  I just called the painter today and he is busy and wants to come October 10!!!  Arrgh!!  He is messing with my schedule!  Realistically that should be fine, but I want to work on decorating and getting everything set up, and I can't really do that until the room is painted.  Grrrrrr.  Anyway, other than that I just booked our maternity photos for the last week in September and I'm so excited to pick out our outfits for them.  I have a ton more things to do, these are just the things I really want to focus on.

  • With DD the only moment of nesting I had was one single day when I was convinced our toilet was disgusting and spent about 30 minutes cleaning it.

I'm hoping I get some more cleaning nesting this time around. I wish I liked to clean, I really do.

  • Mine has also taking on the form of crafting. In the last 2 days I've made 400 hand folded ribbon roses for hair accessories I sell at craft shows. That's about 10 hours of ribbon folding.

  • I think I did more nesting in the second trimester than I am doing now. Lately I have been so tired, and I am still in school since I only have two classes left I decided not to take a break. Fortunately I took all my upper-division, harder classes first, so now I am left with the easy ones.

I had my sister in-law over to help me clean last weekend, and I might have her come over a few more times before the baby gets here. She doesn't have a job, and needs the money, so it is a win-win for both of us. I would like to get some stuff organized before LO arrives though. Her nursery is almost complete, so what I want to get done is other stuff around the house, not baby-related. I'm hoping maybe I will get a second wind at some point so I can finish those things.

  • My nesting so far has consisted of obsessively sewing things (I can't really sew very well so they're easy things), until my mom's sewing machine that I'd been using broke so that got put on hold for now. I also went through about a week where I was obsessed with finding freezer meals to stock up for after lo got here, I wanted to start making them too until I realized that it's a bit early for that unless I want everything to be freezer burned before I get to them heh. So for now I've stuck to pinning recipes to try for freezer meals in a few more months.

As far as cleaning I have had waves of being completely disgusted with things around the house, such as the fur tumbleweeds that are constantly rolling across our tile but I don't see it as something I have a need to clean. I instead get irritated with DH because the floors are his chore and I have determined he needs to get into the habit of doing it far more often before lo gets here.

  • Buying baby boy clothing, and washing and folding it over and over. I have no house (LORD let that be the last time I have to say that [should be closing next week ekkkkkkk]) so all my nesting has been forced to focus on the few items I have for baby. AKA the big box of baby boy cloths. My newest victim in my nesting is pumpkins going home outfit.

  • When I was pregnant with DS we were doing a second level addition to our house, so we were very busy with that the entire pregnancy, the house was in complete shambles, so organizing and cleaning really couldn't be done in a "nesting" kind of way.  We finished the addition and moved into our bedroom and the entire upstairs only three days before DS was born.

So, my nesting took the form of stockpiling stuff for the house.  I went to BJ's by myself one afternoon when I was about 39 weeks pregnant and filled up the cart with anything and everything nonperishable, and pretty much two of each (toilet paper, paper towels, napkins, Ziploc bags, foil, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies).  I paid for that, emptied it into my car, and then went back in to refill the entire basket.

I think we had enough toilet paper to last us about 8 months, and enough laundry detergent for a year!

It wasn't until well after DS was born that I realized this had been the form my nesting had taken.
