Garage sales and recalls

My hubs does a good job finding big ticket items for dirt cheap at garage sales.  Since we aren't the original buyers, we wouldn't get the recall notice manufactures send out.  Do you all know of any good websites that I can check to be sure the things we buy are safe?

They have a mailing list you can sign up for that has kid/baby recalls. I like it because I don't have to remember to check a website at any given frequency other than when looking at secondhand stuff.

Ok I have to sign up for the mailing list. I hate navigating that site it's so clucky.
