  • DD can only do 4 hours a day in the car. We drove to Normandy which is 8 hours with no kids and split it into two days with my mum riding in the back with DD. if we did it all in one day she probably would of had a melt down! Oh and she did not like the car for a week after too!!

  • We just did a Boston to Philly trip the other weekend, and flights were way too expensive but I think driving that far with DD would be a nightmare because she can't sit still for that long (and I think it would end up taking way longer than 6-7 hours what with summer traffic and with taking stops, unless you drove through the night when traffic is better and you wouldn't need to take the stops).  So we actually ended up taking the train.  If you take the Acela it's a 5 hour trip; the regional is 6 hours.  So the same amount of time as driving, but they can get up and walk all around, visit the snack car, etc., and you can entertain them (instead of having to drive), so it's a lot less stressful.  On the way down (during the day) she was up and about the whole time.  On the way back (at night) she slept the whole time in our arms.  It was pretty painless for us, or at least as painless as any travel with her right now could be.

    Good luck!
