I hate feeling like a hypochondriac

So I was having what I thought were contractions. They felt like menstrual cramps only stronger, and when they started coming about 5 minutes apart I decided I needed to call the on-call. She told me to come to the hospital.

I get there the hook me up and to a monitor and it wasn't picking up anything. They run some other tests and everything says I'm not in labor. And they couldn't give me an answer as to what I was feeling.

Of course I am happy baby is ok and isn't coming anytime soon, but I still feel stupid for going in. So now I am still having the cramps and I feel like a hypochondriac. Crying

Re: I hate feeling like a hypochondriac

  • Could you be experiencing BH? My on told my DH "I wouldn't even feel them" so now I swear DH thinks I'm faking it!

  • Possibly false labor? I don't know how soon that can start before you're "due," so maybe ask your OB or MW.

If you're having what you think are contractions, go for a walk; don't just sit there and time them. Real labor cramps will intensify with activity, false labor will stop.

With both of mine, I've walked around the block, and by halfway, I knew if it was true labor because I'd have a hard time walking through the contraction. With DS, it was true labor the first time. With DD1, on her due date, it stopped after we walked ... much to the frustration of DH believe it or not, but labor came that night ... 1:30am to be exact, looooong after my walk had ended.
