So what do you think of Guinevere? DH actually likes this name. Will she forever get teased because the famous Guinevere is famous for cheating on her husband?
And the obvious nn is Gwen but would you spell it like that if you use the spelling Guinevere?
Re: Guinevere
Guinevere is on my top 10. Notice I said mine because DH always always always shoots it down. I think like most connections people will momentarily think of the Arthurian legend and then get over it. And by the time they're old enough to make that connection I don't think there's going to be any real teasing. Adultery is a bit of an adult concept and it's not like the name of a porn star or something I don't see people getting a slutty image. I think he's overthinking that concern.
As for a nickname, I get shortening it to Guin every once in awhile when pressed for time. "Guin can you grab a water bottle on your way out!" But I wouldn't make it every day usage. And I think seeing it written seems very awkward. FWIW, I don't personally write my nickname out, even with casual e-mails etc. because I don't like how it looks but I don't mind if someone else does it and I go by my nickname verbally fairly often with friends. Definitely a name that's too beautiful to shorten all the time, IMO.
I love it!
In the pre-pregnancy stage, I mentioned really liking it to my mom, and she said "I'll kill myself if I have a grandchild named Guinevere." Sooo... apparently some people DON'T like it.
I think Gwen is a fine nickname, although I like Wyn(nie), Evie, and Vera all better personally.
I love it. Elsa Guinevere is one of my top names. I'd use the NN Gwen with Guinevere as a FN.
The show Merlin has turned me on to both Guinevere and Arthur. Haha.
