babysitter pay (humor me)

I know this is asked all the time...

I teach at the local community college and I was offered a second class this semester--yay!--and now it would just be easier for me to get a babysitter rather than relying on my mom and MIL to watch DD.

A friend offered to watch her and I'm wondering what the average pay would be. It would be 3 hours on Tuesday and 5 hours on Thursday. I'll bring DD to her house. So, what would you pay?

I watch 2 little boys for a friend for 8 hours (use to be 6 but they come later and later now) for 40 a week. Its not a lot but its extra for us to do fun things and it helps her out.

A few years ago I watched a neighbor's son and she paid me 10/hr. It was for about 7 hours but the little boy was asleep for about 4 of those hours. So I would say between 10 to 15/hr

I won't give you the rate I pay my in home dcp, it'd skew the picture. I pay my 15 year old $5 an hour, and non family babysitters $9 an hour.

I pay a college kid $10/hr for two kids.

I pay his daycare teacher $12/hr and the high school girl down the street $10. I think since it is a set schedule you could just do a weekly amount like traditional childcare, maybe $75/week. I would pay a little more if she is preparing/feeding LO meals.

I see that you are in NY but not sure where.  In NYC 15/hr seems to be the minimum going rate from my experience and those of my friends.

I am in NY and the typical hourly rate for a sitter in my area is between $12-15/hr.
