With our last school district, everything was a fight, here, I haven't had to complain once. After the first few days of school they asked me if I would like an hour of OT once a week to help ds with sensory issues before his speech, um hell yes I want OT! I couldn't get the last school district to provide the service because they said that his motor skills were up to par and he didn't qualify by their standards. And ds just got approved for full day preschool instead of half day (he will go on scholarship so we don't pay additional). It makes me kind of sad that we don't plan on staying in this town forever because everything has been such a breeze so far. But to give them one negative, their bus service sucks compared to ds's last school and I now have to pick him up and drop him off myself whereas he used to get picked up and dropped off at our driveway.
Re: I'm really happy with our new school district!
That's awesome!
With all the stories about having to aggressively fight to get needs addressed, it's nice to know that there are places/situations where getting services aren't a battle. One of my friends has a child with pretty severe medical SN and he's staying home from school today (second day) because the district hasn't resolved transportation safety issues for him. I know she's really frustrated.
I've been happy with our district so far as well, and I think this year's classroom is another great fit for DD1 (so far; we're only in our second week).

Sounds great!
At least it sounds like your DS has a good team at his new school!
Good to hear positive comments about school districts! Glad you are getting all the help your son needs without a fight! We had a good experience during our IEP process and they had guided us through the process since this is our first kid and we had no idea what to expect. Doesn't help that none of my friends kids had to go to school district for special needs. Our school district has been really wonderful to us so far. They gave our son a full day with school bus service and I email the school psychologist for any information and she replies right away with where to go for more info.
DS starts school on sept 5th and we are all nervous about the transition from day care to school district! Hoping everything goes smoothly!
