Second let down while pumping?

If you pump long enough will this always happen? Or is there something you need to do to encourage it? I have seen people say it takes upwards of 20 minutes.  Thanks!

Re: Second let down while pumping?

  • Mine is around the 20 minute mark!  I book my company's pumping room for 30 minutes and that gives me enough time to setup, breakdown, and pump.  I end up pumping for ~25 minutes, rarely longer.

Do you need to increase/decrease the speed at all? Or do you just keep plodding (pumping) along?

  • Mine is at the 20 minute mark or so as well.  I don't do anything other then keep pumping at the same speed.

  • I usually had a 2nd around 17 minutes, and a 3rd around 25-28 minutes.  I just kept pumping, no speed change or anything.

  • Mine is also around 20 mins.  I can help it along sometimes by hitting the letdown button on my pump again.  (I have a PISA.)  I also do compressions on one side while pumping  (my lame boob needs some help) and sometimes that gets things going a little faster.
  • I get a 2nd at 13 minutes and a 3rd at 20 min. I rarely pump beyond 25 min. I do increase the pump rate to one above the default since it makes the milk seem to come faster.
