Multiples

SCH Question

Greetings! I found out last week that I have an SCH between the two babies. Thankfully it is not touching the placenta of either fetus, but of course it is extremely close.  Just wondering if any of you MOM's experienced one during your multiples pregnancy. I know that everyone is different, but I am just curious to see how long it took to go away and whether or not you had a positive outcome?  As I said before, mine is relatively small (2cm), and thankfully so far the babies are fine; they both have great blood flow and strong heartbeats.

Re: SCH Question

  • I had no signs of an SCH at an u/s I had at 9w5d but started gushing bright red blood at 10w6d and the u/s revealed a moderate sized SCH right above Baby B's placenta. I bled really heavily for a few hours and then the bleeding tapered off the next day and was gone after 48 hours. It was absolutely terrifying but luckily it hadn't caused any issues.

It was still present during my u/s up until around 18w - at that point the MFM couldn't see it anymore and said it seemed to have resolved itself.

GL! I hope it doesn't cause any issues and resolves itself quickly.

  • I have an inactive SCH but around 6 weeks, it was active and I was bleeding. It is still noticeable on ultrasound (9 weeks now) and I do get some spotting especially on days when I'm more active.

I was put on headrest for 4 days when it was active, and now I'm on pelvic rest. Which just means take it easy and no sex. My doctor said many with SCH have healthy pregnancies, keeping hydrated helps and lay low if you have spotting.

Hope it all turns out well for you!
