how long to TTC again?

I was just wondering if there is a standard time to wait for TTC after a miscarriage. Im scheduled for a D&C tomorrow. Im hoping to try again in oct or nov but I really have no idea how long your supposed to wait? Or maybe it varies for each individual

Sorry about your loss. First my Dr. told me 3 cycles. I told her I was concerned about waiting that long because I have irregular cycles. So she said to wait 2 months.  I miscarried 2 weeks ago and had a D and C a couple days after that. So I plan beginning to try again in mid october. I actually will make sure I have one cycle first and will protect until I have a cycle. We probably wont be as careful after that, once we reach mid october I will start using OPKs again and paying attention to ovulation. From everything I read even if you get pregnant the first time after you ovulate, you do not have a higher chance to miscarry. Its the same as it was before. Its only after you have had multiple miscarriages if when you have a higher chance to miscarry. A lot of what I have read most dr.s tell you to wait a few months to to help you emotionally. Some will say to wait atleast one cycle so they are able to date if you get pregnant the first cycle.

I had my M/C at 5w2days naturally with no D&C.  My OB said I can try again right away with no wait.  He said they used to tell you to wait a cycle or two so it's easier to determine due date as opposed to right away when you wouldn't have a period first but it's not necessary.  It might be different if you have a D&C though, and of course it also has to do if you are mentally ready or not.  I knew I wanted to try again immediately and am hoping I O before my period comes but we shall see.

Thanks ladies. I was thinking of not really trying, but not going back on birth control either, and then after a firt normal period actively trying again. Its good to know its not a horribly long wait. Right now all I can think about is trying again.

I had a D&C.  My doc wants me to wait for two menstral cycles before TTC.

Both my midwife and OB doctor that did my D&C said that I can start trying with my next AF. According  to them (although they had my personal health in mind as they said this) that it used to be to wait 3 cycles to start trying, but now research is indicating that it's safe and OK to try after getting your period. Take that with a grain of salt because it probably depends on other health factors related to the physical trauma (if any) of miscarriage.

This is exactly what my doc told me and exactly how I feel. I had a D&C.

I'm wondering if I will ovulate before my first AF. We are not doing anything to avoid. Anyone know?

Just had a D&C and my Dr. told us to use protection at least until my hormone levels were back down to 0. She said they are going to test me weekly till they are down so we will both know.

I would discuss this with your doctor and listen to them. 

After my D&C she told me to wait till after my first cycle to start ttc, but not every doctor is the same. Sorry about your loss.

I'm sure it's a little different for everyone. If you talk to your ob, and you express clearly what would be ideal for you, I'm sure they will give you the healthiest advice that will fit your body.
