Snowsuits?

A little early perhaps, but not really. We've been known to get snow in October here. Plus, I'm putting together her cute fall and winter wardrobe so it's on my brain.

I heard the Gap and Columbia snowsuits are really warm while still being thin enough to fit safely in the carseat.

Where are you all looking for your LO's snowsuit?

Re: Snowsuits?

  • Last year I didn't get an actual snow suit, but a full body suit (whatever the heck you want to call it...bunting) from Northface (bought it clearance on nordstrom.com) that I loved.  It was warm yet not bulky so worked perfect for the car seat (and it wasn't the 'sack' style but the invidual legs).  I am really disappointed that we didn't get to use it all that much last winter (very mild winter, not that I'm complaining, but I spent $40 on that darn suit) and it will likely be too small this winter.

  • My mom is obsessed about buying my kiddos winter coats. (not that I am going to complain) She usually buys them on clearance at Gap for the girls and finds my DS a Columbia coat. I have been happy with boths those brands.

  • Last year we never got to use it, but I bought coverall type things from Gap on clearance, and then I had a matching coat from Old Navy.  The coveralls were black, so easy to match!

I have no idea what we'll do this year.  I did buy him 2 coats on clearance at BRU earlier this summer.  I think I got both for $24!

  • When I lived in Ontario, the city I lived in only had a dew choices for snowsuits. Sears, Zellers, and well I can't think of anything else.  You could get the thin or thicker coats, the only thing I looked for was what temp it was rated for. For this age group I did coats and sky pants. I would get them at either Sears or Zellers depends on who had the sales. As the kids got older I got them the Columbia coats only when they would not destroy them like 15-16yrs old. Kids grow too fast and are way to hard on cloths to buy the more expensive stuff, plus there is no difference in warmth.

Oh and another thing, since it could be pretty cold come Halloween get a costume a bit bigger to fit over the snowsuit.  Fun times lol

  • LL Bean has a killer snowsuit - it's what my DD wore all last winter.

  • Thanks all. We never used one at all last year either. She wasn't out playing in the snow much and we had a very mild winter.

I wish I had bought one on clearance last year. Live and learn. So expensive for something to wear one season!

  • I attempted to buy when on clearance this spring but DH thought that was silly. He is in for a shocker when we have  to pay full!

  • I bought two overall snow pants at a local consignment sale. They were in great condition and only 5 each. I'm still working on a jacket.

My two boys are getting a surprise May 2015!

  • I bought a snow suit from the gap last year for dd. I bought it I December when it was on sale but still not that cheap. She used it everyday all winter long. She didnt use it in the snow but I put it on her just to go outside. It has legs and I got it slightly large. Im hoping she will be able to squeeze into it this year but the way she is growing it may only last one season.
  • My dad works for Columbia, so I'm a bit biased, but I always love their snow gear for the kids.  It's warm and holds up really well.  I prefer the bib overalls to just the plain snowpants, that way you don't have to worry about snow getting down in their pants-ick!

  • I bought DD a (really cute) coat on clearance last year and think I goofed on the size. The arms are about 4 inches too long. But the strange thing is, the buttons are already kind of snug, and she's not chubby! I don't know what I'll do about a snow suit though. I'm also having a hard time deciding what to do for LO#2. He/she is due in November and will probably need something warm pretty much right off the bat but I don't want to get 3 sizes since they grow so fast early on. And I feel like a 6-9mo suit would be way too big off the bat...
