Anyone have MMM Hale book handy?

Curious about what it says about Xanax( as needed, rare use for PPD, mixed messages from OB and ped..) and Skelaxin, a muscle relaxer. Thanks in advance

Re: Anyone have MMM Hale book handy?

  • Xanax is L3 :

In an adult dose of .5-1 mg TID
    1/2 life is 12-15 hours
    Lacatation Risk L3

"The benzo family as a rule, are not ideal for breastfeeding mothers due to relatively long half-lives and the development of dependence. However, it is not evident that the acute or short-term use of these drugs is hazardous for breastfed infants."

     Skelaxin is also L3:

    Category L3

Hypersensitivity reactions in adults (allergic) have occurred as well as liver toxicity. No data are available on its transfer into breastmilk.

No data available regarding pediatric concerns.

You could actually call Infant Risk for advice on your specific medical history.

We are now open to answer calls Monday-Friday 8am-5pm central time. Please contact us at (806)-352-2519.
