Natural Birth

Artificial conception, natural birth

DH and I had to go the IVF route to concieve our little blessing (19 weeks) and are planning a natural birth.  Our IVF doctors were VERY resistant to us using a GP at a birth center after all the hard work they did getting us pregnant.  The great thing is that our original due date was Jan 16th and the GP moved it to Jan 30th BECAUSE of the IVF.  She said because we know the exact moment conception occurred she can give me another 2 weeks to cook the little one to perfection.  In addition she only starts considering induction after 41weeks 4 days.  I feel so relieved that I may just escape my fear of baby being induced artificially!!  Pitocin scares the **** outta me!!

  • Congratulations!  Sounds like you are in wonderful hands!

I am the same way about induction!  I was charting and know the day I ovulated with DD and this baby.  When they did an earlier u/s with this baby for some bleeding I had they estimated my due date to be two days later than my charting date.  I was like great, let's go with that!  I will take all the time I can!

  • Congrats on a successful round of IVF! While we didn't have to use IVF specifically, I did have to use some science to help me get pregnant and I feel MUCH better about delivering at a birth center than I would at a hospital. I think RE's have a barbaric misconception of the safety of home births and birth centers in general. You just have to make the best decision for your family and do what's most comfortable. GL!

  • Congrats on your pregnancy! Your RE's are overstepping their expertise, do not let their opinion sway your decision! A woman will have the most successful labor possible when she is in a comfortable safe environment. A low risk pregnancy is definitely safe / safer at a birth center or home with midwives for delivery. GL with your natural birth!
  • I'm right there with you on IVF baby, but hoping for a low/no intervention natural birth :) Good luck!
