Lo was EBF until 6 months and now is mainly bf with some solids now added as well. She's 7.5 months old now and has recently been refusing bottles at daycare. Luckily I go and feed her on my lunch break. She also seems much more distracted nursing during the day. Sooooo to make up for this she seems to be really enjoying nursing overnight. A lot! So she once was only waking once per night and recently it's been anywhere from 3-5 times per night! As a working mom, it's getting tough. Any advice on how to decrease this? Should I be trying harder to get her back to sleep without nursing? I don't want my supply to tank but I also don't want her to need to nurse back to sleep. I'm so confused. Any advice is really really appreciated! I'm a ftm. Thanks!
Re: Night feeder?
How long has this new behavior been going on? Every now and then my little guy will have an "off" week where he's up more at night. It usually correlates to teething, illness, some sort of development (crawling, climbing), or even a growth spurt. It generally passes on its own.
All that being said, it would probably help you out if he ate more during the day. Obviously it would be ridiculous for you to quit your job and hang out with her at daycare so you can feed her, but maybe they can offer the bottle more often. And when you're with her, you can offer the breast more often. And when she nurses (and if possible at daycare), try to go someplace really boring. Around 5/6 months I had to stop nursing in the living room. Now all his nursing sessions at home are in his room, in the glider, with nothing around for him to be distracted by. I
