I really love those first few minutes after I go in DD's room in the morning to get her up for the day. She rolls over, brushes her hair out of her eyes and says "Hiiii mama" in this very slow, sleepy voice. Then she either sits up and asks me to sit down in the chair next to her crib so she can pass me all of her babies & blankets or she says "Hold you, mama?" Those have to be the sweetest three words I hear all day. I pick her up and she rests her little head on my shoulder while I rub her back for a few minutes.
Then, all he!l breaks loose when I try to lay her down to change her diaper and her clothes.
But for those first two minutes, all is right in the world.
Re: What does your LO say/do first thing in the morning?
If it's me that gets her it's "HI!!!.....Daddy? Daddy? Daddy!!!???"
if it's DH it's "HI!!!!...Mum?"
Big hugs as she gets out of the crib and down the stairs, then the fun of the day begins.
These are such sweet stories. I love it that she wants to hold me. All the other kids I've ever been around always said "uppie" or something like that. DD is a big snuggler. She likes for mommy to hold her...mostly when I'm busy doing things, of course, but I try to appreciate it anyway.
When H goes in to get her, she says "Hi mama" all sleepily until she looks up and sees him and happily and more excitedly says "Hi Daddy!" lol. He's only here when she wakes up on the weekends, so it's a treat.
LO wakes up and calls "Mooommmmeeeeee" or "Mommy are you?" (where are you).
When I go in he says "Hi Mommy" then "dipa" (diaper).
While I change him he will either say "Shhhh daddy seeping" or just babble.
Then he wants either "up" or "down".
And finally "Elmo oush" (Earth's Best yogurt pouch).
If it's me going in to get her: "Hi Mama"
If it's DH going in to get her: "Hi Dada"
This is usually followed by picking her stuffed dog up in the crib and saying "Hi Puppy" several times, then tossing him out onto the floor. She'll then grab the crib rail and jump up and down on the matress or run in circles until whoever is in there picks her up and then she usually says "hug" and "kiss" until she gets enough of that. While changing her diaper and getting her dressed she's always asking for whichever parent isn't in the room with her and to go down so she can start playing.
ETA: Yesterday morning while changing her diaper first thing in the morning she informed me "big poo poo" (she hadn't gone in over 24hr) but waited until she got to daycare to go .
Do I have the only angry wakeful toddler? Usually in the two seconds it takes to put on my glasses and walk across to his room he is crying (no tears thankfully) and complaining. He doesn't say a lot of words really but he reserves things like "mommy" and "car" until after he's gotten his waffle.
EDIT: He really is otherwise a happy toddler, he is just an utter grump waking up, maybe it would help if he chose not to wake at such an insanely early hour, sigh

Haha cute.
Now even if he hasn't pooped, when I open his diaper he says, "Ewww doody!"
Over the monitor: "mama, mama, down, peas"
Walk in his room: throws blanket at me & screams "juice"

My DS used to be grumpy like that, with actual fits of crying at times. He has seemed to grow out of it. So, there is hope!
"HELLO!" As she's jumping up and down in her crib. Then, "Mama.. I want banana." and "Where Liam??" and "I want down."
My girl is straight to business.
"Up" followed by "food" as he leads me into the dining room.
He is all about business.
The first thing I hear in the morning is "Mommy? Daddy? I awake! Knock knock! I awake!"
When I go in, the first thing she asks is "Where Daddy? Daddy working?"
If DH goes in, it's "Bum? Milk? Cheerios?" No one cares where mommy is.
If I wake her up, she kind of flops into my arms and I whisper, "Breakfast?" and she whispers back, "Breakfast. Muffins?" and I whisper "Muffins." Then we walk out of her room hand-in-hand. It's very sweet.
However, most of the time she wakes up before me so all I head is her little feet running down the hall while she sobs, "MUFFINS!" as loud as she can.
Kinda late to this thread, but oh well!
I never get up before her, so I'll hear from my room, "Mommy where are you?", over and over until I get to her. It's so freaking adorable. Then when I get into her room she will say, "I need to pick you up." Meaning that she wants me to pick her up, of course. I pluck her from her crib and she says, "I want milky, mommy."
That is the playbook for almost every morning. Once milk has been received, her chatter varies and might be about anything at all.
DD usually just says Daddy...Daddy and then when she is out scowers the house for him and I have to explain that Daddy is at work.
But, when it's nap or bedtime she always pats her pillow and says, mama cuddle...it's so sweet and THAT I love.
lol, you're giving me way too much credit. She eats those awful Entenmanns mini-muffins practically every morning. She loves that shiit. HFCS and preservatives FTW!
So cute.
During the week, he normally wakes up while I'm in the middle of getting ready, so he just hangs out in his crib until I'm done -- about 15 minutes or so. He will eventually start saying "Momma, where are you?" then moves on to "Charlie (the dog), where are you?" and then "(My first name), where are you?"
When I do go in there, he's still laying down covered up, and then pretends to be asleep until I tickle him.
