MSPI I was hoping to see some change!

It's been 6 days since I gave up soy and dairy. The only symptoms I notice are mucusy poops. Two days into the diet, she had blood for the first time. There's been no change and now they're sometimes greenish. Ugh. I was hoping to see SOMETHING by now. I guess she poops less 3 times a day than before 78 times, but it's all still watery and slimy. Frustrating.

  • That is frustrating!  You should be seeing improvement not having it get worse.  Are you sure you aren't eating anything that has hidden dairy or soy?  It hides in the craziest places.  Also, try not to eat out for the next couple weeks so that you know for you what you are eating.  Remember that it could take up to 4 weeks for things to get better.  Maybe try cutting out gluten too.  It may be overkill but it worked for me.  Gluten protein also passes through BM and can irriatte baby's tummy.  It may be worth a try.  GL!!

  • It may take several weeks for the dairy and soy to leave your system.  It's so hard during the wait, but give it a little more time.  6 days is great!  It may get way better in 6 or 12 more!  Like pp said, try to be absolutely sure that you are not eating hidden dairy or soy.  (Baked in butter, caesin -- which can even been in some items that are billed as "milk free," whey, and also soy in all sorts of sauces and condiments.)
  • I was the same way, it got worse before it got better. I didn't see any blood until I started the diet, so frustrating! About a week after that I did see some improvement and then a few weeks later I could tell it was helping.

  • I know it's frustrating, but hang in there. It can take a good month for both your systems to clear. DD2's poop was back to normal after I'd been dairy and soy free for 5 wks. Like pp said, you want to check everything. Read labels for any vitamins/supplements, and even drinks.

  • I was told it takes several weeks to notice a difference, so try to stay positive. Continue your diet and hopefully you will see improvement soon.  I know it is tough because I have been on the diet for a week and have only noticed subtle improvements in my LO.  Also maybe try cutting out eggs.  I read online that many chickens are feed soy and to be cautious about eggs.  So I am also eliminating eggs from my diet as well.

    GL and hang in there!!

  • I haven't taken my vitamin in weeks. I tried to get a prescription soy free one CitraNatal, but it's a 50 dollar copy. What ones are safe?

Shotzie recommended a safe one from Target. It's chewable and says dairy and soy free on the bottle. If you still have the link to my blog, I posted a picture of the bottle.

  • No slip ups that I know of and no over supply...that's why I think it's MSPI. I'm pretty sure I've avoided all dairy and soy. The only processed food I've eaten are Snyder pretzel snaps, skinny pop popcorn, taco shells they just had corn, palm oil, and salt, Stacys naken pita chips, garlic hummus, and some spaghetti noodles. Other than that, my diet consists of grapes, bananas, apples, olive oil, herbs, chicken, enjoy life products, and Larabars. I haven't branched out too far!

I am taking one by Nature's Source. It says dairy and soy free on the bottle. I found it at our local co op, and I don't think it was too pricey.
  • Hang in there!

After DD's first bloody stool I started the diet, and it was three weeks after that we were blood free.  After four weeks her stools were normal.  It can take a while.
