EP'ers...how many pumps per day?

I average around 7-8 pumps per day and my little one is 9weeks old. My supply isn't the greatest as we have to supplement at night with formula. When can I start dropping pumps without impacting supply?

Re: EP'ers...how many pumps per day?

  • I'd wait till at least 12 weeks and if you're having supply issues I'd keep at 7 pumps at least until you're a little more comfortable.  It's still early though and you're body is getting adjusted.  After 4 months I dropped to 6 and when I went back to work I went to 5 both drops did not reduce my total ounces.

Keep at it!  The best feeling in the world was when you realize you have a stash in the fridge and you can skip the formula :) You'll get there and even if you need to keep supplementing with formula, you're only doing 1 or 2 bottles a day and that's AMAZING!!

  • I started dropping right away and am at 3 ten to fifteen minute pumps a day, but I has a huge over supply. I'm still getting 33 to 36 oz a day, but that's down from 40 to 45 when I was doing 4 a day..
If you are having trouble getting enough I wouldn't drop any pumps yet.
