Anyone have a sleep training night-light?

Do you have a specific brand you recommend? My son thinks that when he wakes up at 3:30 in the morning it's time to get out of bed. If I don't get a full night's sleep soon, I might start to experience psychosis. Thanks!

  • we dont'.  i really want the good night light.  i know a few girls have it and love it, so that's what i'd rec.

my oldest is 4 now and for the last few months (before he turned 4) I told him he had to stay in bed until the number on his clock was an 8.  the first day he got up at 6:48 b/c one was an 8. lol!  after that, i covered up the minutes and he had to look at the hour.  He did pretty good  I'd say about 65-70% of the summer he stayed in his room until the 8.  :)  (now it's 7)

  • We bought the good night light.  It is kinda pricey (like around $40?) but it really helped when we were going through a period where my son would wake up during the night and come out of his room.  We started telling him that if he wakes up he should stay in bed (or at least in his room) until the yellow sun comes up (there is a blue moon at night and when you set the sun to come up is when it changes to the yellow sun).  I do recommend it... with the caveat that I'm sure it doesn't work for ALL kids but we found it helpful.

My SIL did this with my niece, too (covered up the minutes and told her the number to watch for on the clock).  So, depending on the age of the child I think that works well, too.

This is the one we got last month. It's been working great. It does a wake up time and also has a nap function. Best $25 I've spent in a while.

I second the Good Nite Light.  Best $40 I ever spent!

  • We have the Gro clock. I saw it on Pinterest and had to have it. Couldn't find it in the US so I ordered onine from a Canadian baby store. My son has done very well with it. If he wakes up early he will sit in bed until the sun comes on and he will yell for us "SUN AWAKE MAMA". Its great. I've also seen a lighting timer that some moms have used in a similar way.
