1st Trimester

11 weeks and concerned.

Hello, I am 11 weeks and 3days and have been having a few issues during my pregnancy. For example when drinking milk I can not drink it at all it makes me sick to my stomach and my body does not tolerate it. As of recently how do I know my baby is alright? I do not have my next doctors appointment till Sep 6 and have been feeling stomach cramps and a bit of back pain. Sometimes I wake up and I feel no cramps or anything but I have been feeling small like cramps for the past couple of days feels like when you are hungry and your stomach growls. I have no bleeding and thankfully have had no bleeding throughout my pregnancy and im wondering if he/she might be ok. How do I know?? Since this is my first pregnancy I do not really know what is normal and what is not so im asking for a bit of help. Is my baby ok?

  • Im really glad im not the only one going through this. I thought maybe I had done something wrong and had hurt my child. But finding out that someone else is also feeling the same it makes me feel a bit better to know that someone else understands how Im feeling. I do hope everything goes fine with you as well as myself and I hope our little ones are alright.

  • That all sounds pretty normal. Try not to let your imagination get the best of you.
  • Sounds like growing pains.

I was also really picky about food in the first trimester. Try to assume that everything is OK with LO and good luck! :-)

  • Just remember, this is your first. Your body is going through CRAZY changes you've NEVER been through. Just like you've heard you get get cravings throughtout your pregnancy-you also get food aversions. Milk may just not be cutting it for you. Which is fine. Soy & almond milk are good alternatives. Just make sure you're taking your prenatals. Especially now.

It really pissed me off when my Dr. scheduled me 3+ weeks apart in the beginning, as well. I had similar pains-and then some. If you're ever THAT concerned, just call your Dr. that's what they're here for. As for now, the advice I can honestly give you is just RELAX & know you're in for a bumpy ride. No pun intended =) Looking back, especially with my 39 week pains...I wish I could go back to 11 weeks & enjoy it again. Unless you've got major earthbending pains & blood-I would say everything is normal. (Although I am no doctor...only out of experience) Just put your feet up & enjoy it while it lasts. Hope you feel better soon, hun.

  • I'm probably 6-7 weeks along I'm guessing and I feel the same way you do. Constant cramps and an ache like hunger pains (only I eat and feel queasy) food aversions are very normal. Try not to stress out too much. You'll see the dr soon

  • I'm 30 Weeks and I'm still throwing up and unable to eat certain foods. The baby is most likely fine it's just your queasy tummy trying to get used to all the hormones. It's also normal for the minor cramps. As long as they aren't major or you have any leaking. It's most likely implantation and your body is starting the new process of shifting and stretching!
  • Sounds like a normal pregnancy. With DS I had many food aversions and foods that made me sick to eat. It's just your body's way of making sure you get what you need. For example, I couldn't eat any chicken or turkey and ate almost exclusively beef. Turns out I was low in iron.

Cramps and pulling on and off are normal as your uterus stretches and the muscles surrounding it start to pull and stretch. It's hard not knowing when you haven't seen your doctor yet, but trust that unless your body gives you reason to worry, there is probably no reason to worry.

This! I remember cramps. Your muscles are stretching and growing! And you ligaments are being pulled too! I wouldn't worry....easier said than done! You'll be fine!

  • I bought a Sonoline B doppler during my last pregnancy, because I was a worry wort. I found his heartbeat at 9 weeks with it. I'm so happy to have it now to. If I have any cramping or a bad dream I just find the heartbeat. It's very easy to find now at 12 weeks. It takes some practice though, and you have start at your pelvic bone. Anyway, this has been a sanity saver and I highly recommend one. GL!

Relax Momma's.  The cramps are just your body growing and everything moving around.  As long as you don't see blood, you are good to go.  I had that cramping on and off throughout the whole pregnancy so far. It's normal.  You will feel all sorts of twinges and weird feelings throughout your pregnancy.  Just try to stay calm and know that baby is just growing and getting bigger!

  • Thank you so much everyone. After reading everyone's advice I feel a little more at ease. All of your advice I have read and it makes a lot of sense. Since im new at this I truly didn't understand what was happening but most of you have explained the cramps and the aversion of food. Thank you once again I really do appreciate it.

  • It sounds to me like you're lactose intolerant. As a  nutrition coach/personal trainer, I find that most people actually are at least mildly lactose intolerant. We just become accustom to feeling a little crappy all the time. But now, pregnancy is amplifying those feeling and/or making you much more aware of them. Try cutting out the milk products and see if the cramps go away. Those kind of cramps are exactly what would happen to someone who wasn't prego but had more severe allergies. Give it a try. The worst that happens is you don't feel better but you won't feel worse.
  • Cramps are totally normal - your uterus has to stretch out to eventually fit a watermelon-sized baby in there! There's gonna be some cramps! If everything was good at your first appointment, it's VERY likely that everything is still fine, especially with NO bleeding. Try not to worry too much:-)

  • (Lurking)  I have ALWAYS felt the time btn your first ultrasound to the time you can feel your baby move is the hardest time. You need to trust yourself that everything is working as it should. It is hard to do, but if there are no negative signs than go day to day saying "today I am pregnant!"

  • I'm thankful for this post!  I've been feeling the exact same things, and trying not to worry too much!  Good luck to all!!
