Success after IF

Second guessing

I keep second guessing on when to call the RE.  Last week I mentioned that I was fine with waiting until January or longer.  The last 2-3 days though I've suddenly wanted to be pregnant now!!  DH is out of town for job training and won't be back until Friday and has to leave again so realistically I'm sure he won't even want to have this conversation until the end of September.  Anyone else go through this?

Re: Second guessing

  • Yep.  We originally didn't think we could reasonably afford to cycle until 2013, but I figured it wouldn't hurt just to set up an appt. for a what next plan, even if it was very long term.  Turns out our insurance changed for the better, and I had a sh!tload of pain with my first post-partum cycle, indicating I'd need more surgery sooner rather than later anyway....so here we are.

So maybe just set up an appt to find out what tests you need to repeat, etc.?  That way at least you could have a better timeline in your head.

I can't wait for the "im getting a divorce" post in 5 years or so because your husbands were fed up with your disgusting chair asses from playing on the knot all day and getting fired 4-5 times for not doing any work. you guys are all winners!! ~ Laur929

  • We did the same thing.  We originally wanted to wait until Roman was 2 to start trying.  Then it turned into we would start cycling at the end of October so they would be 2 years apart (in case the first cycle happened to be successful).  And then we didn't want to wait and made the RE appt for the beginning of this month.  If this cycle works then they will be 22 months apart and we're okay with that.

And now that my lazy ovaries aren't responding well I realize I was naive in thinking we might get pregnant sooner rather than later.

Good luck with your decision!  It's exciting to start making a plan for #2!

  • We met with our RE in February, even though we weren't planning to cycle until July or August (this cycle officially started on 8/1 for us). We decided to meet with her sooner rather than later because I didn't want to be rushed in getting the authorizations we needed from our insurance company and completing all of the preliminary testing again (results are only good with our RE for 6 months to 1 year).

It probably wouldn't hurt to set up an appointment and discuss your options.
