I posted this question over the weekend, but didn't get very many responses (probably due to my poor communication skills...). I've rewritten it to hopefully make it make more sense - I could really use some insight on what to do!
I am a teacher. When I went back to work at the end of the school year last year I was really paranoid about my supply dropping, so I pumped at every opportunity and froze the extra. I was pumping around 30 oz per day on top of feeding her while at home. Once summer got here, I realized that was not the smartest idea. After a few weeks of engorgement and a gassy baby, I finally got my oversupply under control and we were doing really well.
Well, I went back to work a week and a half ago and took DD to a babysitter (DH kept her last year). She's been reverse cycling pretty heavily and eating 2-5 oz while I'm gone. She doesn't seem hungry, is having plenty of wet diapers, and is still gaining weight. I'm getting up with her twice per night, but she's quick so I don't really mind.
The problem is that even cutting down to two pumping sessions from three, I'm still pumping 15-18 oz. Over the weekend, I was very engorged and she was super gassy and fussy last night and the babysitter said she had problems with gas today, too. So here are my questions:
1. Will she stop reverse cycling eventually as she gets more used to the DCP? Or should I expect her intake to remain about the same?
2. I need to pump less right now for both of our sakes - should I drop one pump (I'd prefer that option) or should I keep both pumps and just work to pump less at each (I'm afraid all I'll pump is foremilk and I'll just make her more miserable)?
3. When DH was keeping her lat year, she was eating 5-12 oz per day. If I drop my pumping down, will I be able to start pumping more if she starts eating more?
I don't want to kill my supply, but both of us are miserable right now. I'd really appreciate some insight!
