Good morning ladies!  My long awaited second opinion is tomorrow and I have a pretty good list of questions ready to go, but I was hoping for various schools of thought to weigh in here with ideas and opinions (general or specific) to help me further prepare for this consult.  If there is something significant you learned from a second opinion, please share it.

1st ultrasound 10/1: TWO beautiful heartbeats!  Overjoyed!

    Hope the consult goes well and you are able to develop a great plan for moving fowrard!

    Positive for HLA-B27, I'm a mutant :p
    Testing - Me ok, gluten issue? DH - borderline count, low motility
    4/28/11 IUI#1 = BFP!(5/25), EDD 2/2/12 - m/c 5w3d
    7/3, 7/31, 9/25 - IUI#2-4=BFN
    IVF#1 - 1 blast = BFP!! (12/30), EDD 9/9/12, confirmed c/p 4w2d
    FET#1 3/2/12 - 2 blasts =BFP!! EDD 11/18/12, us#1 = twins! Confirmed m/c 5w6d
    4/20-surprise BFP and another c/p 4w2d
    FET#2 7/16/12 - 2 blasts = BFN
    FET#3 8/20/12 - 1 blast - BFP!! Beta #1-2=177, 354

    Multiple ectopics, 2 failed IVF's
    IVF #1: Did not get to ET, embies all failed PGD (major chromosomal defects)
    IVF #2: We have 2 chromosomally perfect embies as a result of PGD (Boy/Girl) 1 failed the thaw (Girl) Transferred 1, yet ended as a c/p
    Thought it was the end of our TTC Journey 6/20/2012
    SHOCK BFP 9/28/2012: IT'S A BOY! and everything is normal !!!!!!

    Little A born 38w 2d on 05/23/13 and is a true miracle for this IF Vet!

    Thanks for the good luck wishes - a second opinion out of state is sort of mind boggling for me at this point, but I am ready to hear what they have to say about my past cycles...and what a future cycle may have in store for us out in Colorado!

    Ditto.  I haven't had a second opinion yet, and it's looking like we won't. Sorry I have no suggestions.  Hope you learn new things from cc.rm that will help guide your next decisions.   GL!

    Just wanted to wish you good luck!  I am sure you already have a lot of questions.  :)

    I am not sure who you are consulting with, but I had my phone consult with Dr. Schoolcraft.  He was very quiet for much of the conversation, even to the point of silence on the line a few times.  He gave us time to explain and ask questions, which led to some silence on the phone.  He gave his opinion, but will not touch much on what protocol he would recommend, since technically you are not a patient of theirs until you have a face to face consult.  It was a good consult, but I definitely prepared myself to not be blown away by the phone consult.

    Best of luck and I hope it goes well! 

    After 1 IUI, 3 IVF's with CGH/CCS testing, 10 early miscarriages, and lots of tears and frustration, we are moving on to Domestic Infant Adoption!  We are so excited to see what the future holds.

    Maybe you could ask them what people who come for a 2nd consult typically ask or how they are different. I know that leaves an open book, but they probably face the questions a lot. 

    I hope they give you some confidence, hope, and most of all great medical care.

    Maybe start with what, if any, additional testing they would want to do before another cycle and why. I'm sure you'll get lots of good information as the conversation unfurls. Good luck.

    Me: 36, DH: 42
    Dx: DOR and MFI

    DH: low count + very low motility; hormones all normal; Sperm DNA Frag. test = poor to fair; male karyotyping normal
    Me: FSH 13.4 + AMH 0.26 + hypothyroidism; Scratch the hypothyrodism (?); Blood clotting and immune panel all negative; endometrial biopsy normal

    IVF #1 (MDLF - Jul/Aug 2011): BFN (9R, 5M, 3F with ICSI, 3dt of 1 10-cell grade 2, no frosties)
    IVF #2 (EP-antagonist - Sep/Oct 2011): BFN (6R, 4M, 3F w/ ICSI, 3dt of 1 6-cell, 1 7-cell, grade 4s, no frosties)
    DE IVF #1 (shared cycle - June 2012): c/p (6R, 6F w/ICSI, 3dt 1 8-cell grade A- and 1 7-cell grade A-; no frosties)
    DE IVF #2 (shared cycle with new donor - Nov/Dec/ 2012): - BFP!!!!! 12/14/12. U/S on 12/27 shows twins!!!!!

    Married 8/2008. IVF with PGD March 2013.
    3/22 ER: 25R, 20M, 15F. 9 genetically normal, and 3 survived to Day 5
    3/27 ET: transferred 1 embryo, beta 9dp5dt=163, 12dp5dt=639
    4/25 1st ultrasound at 7 weeks = identical twins with heartbeats?!!!
    PPROM at 31w, delivery at 32 weeks of two beautiful girls
