~*MSPI Moms Weekly Check-In*~
Welcome! This is a check-in for moms who are/were on a dairy free and/or soy free diet due to their LO?s intolerance. The check-ins will be posted every Monday morning on the Breastfeeding board and XP?d to the Food Allergy board. I will RP a link to the check-in on the Breastfeeding board on Monday evenings for the nighttime posters, if the check-in isn't on the first page of posts. If you'd like to join the group, just post an intro here and dive in!
QOTW: If you've introduced solids to LO's diet, how is it going? Are you worried about them having other intolerances due to being MSPI? If you haven't intro'd solids yet, do you plan to do anything differently since LO is MSPI?

We have not started solids and are definitely delaying at least till 6 months since it is possible DS has other allergies.
I would keep putting it out for him to play with and practice getting to his mouth, that is all part of learning.
I look forward to this on Mondays.
We have not started solids yet. Pedi said we will talk about it at 6 months, but it def makes me nervous since we are still trying to figure out what the problem is.
We started at 6 months very slowly with Happy Bellies Rice Cereal which has no dairy, no soy, no gluten, no wheat.
We did all of the main vegetables & fruits on Wholesomebaby.com introduction list except for peas b/c i read they can be linked to soy so I'm scared to try them.
I've also given her the Happy Bellies oatmeal. She does ok on it but I feel like her poops are very weird on it so I worry about that.
She was doing great until recently when I gave her chicken. It was either the chicken or a baby mum mum (which says may contain trace milk) that gave her some gas & blood in the stool but that went away very quickly.
She also loves Coconut Milk yogurt by So Delicious. She has been doing very well so far.
I am a FTM and my LO was recently diagnosed with MSPI! At first I was really overwhelmed but now I feel like I can BF and stick to the strict diet suggested by my pedi.
I have not introduced solid foods yet but when I do I will be extremely cautious. I will be waiting till 6 months and I plan to introduce fruits and veggies first. As per my pedi's instructions I will delay dairy until somewhere around 12 months. I figure it is better to be more cautious then to risk my LOs health!
Can I join you ladies? I've posted some of my questions on the food allergy board, but never actually joined in on this thread.
LO has suspect MSPI- I say suspected becuase despite cutting dairy and soy he still has stool issues but other than that is a very happy baby. (We BF, which my pedi is very supportive of). If they issues are still going on at 9 months we'll allergy test him then.
As per introducing solids we started around 5 months. I'm not too worried about additional issues, but am not introducing typicial allergy foods and only introduce one new thing a week, if that. I probably will not offer him anything dairy related until he is able to tolerate it in my BM (or we figure out that it's actually something else that is the issue.)
My concern is actually my ILs giving him food. . . no one that I know of in their family has allergies and they give their kids whatever for food. Once they know/realize that we are giving him "real" food we will have to make it very clear that no one but us is to offer/give him food. My FIL has been commenting since he was born on how he can't wait to give him ice cream . . . so yeah- that'll be a no go.
We started earlier than 6 months more for fun since she was so interested in our food. So fat she has had pears, prunes, apples, bananas, avocado, green beans and peas ( all cooked). She also tasted chicken: dipped it into green beans and avocado and had her suck in it. She loved that.
When the menu is starting to get boring I mix flavors and let her try to feed herself, or should I say play with her food.
I offer about 2.5 oz at a meal, of two or more foods,
She didn't do well with peaches, carrots or sweet potatoes and did horrible with a little bit of rice cereal from Earth Best. I think it was the tocopherol (vit E). I want to try rice and oatmeal grounded by me, I'm working the courage. I'm very paranoid, more like a basket case just to think about trying new things.
Per the allergist recommendation I'm delaying raw stuff for a while and will go very slow. My goal is to be able to cook a meal for all of us. Ha!
Confession: I have a pan/pot, a mini food processor and cutting board and a blender ring only for her food. It helps to keep my sanity.
