We are re-using DS#1s nursery and moving him to a new big boy room.  His big boy room is the disney cars theme, complete with little tikes Car toddler bed.  Painting is finished, wall decals ordered, bed is in process of being assembled.

In terms of the nursery, it is painted a soft yellow and has a sesame street theme.  I did 5 counted cross stitches of various Sesame street characters (bert, ernie, elmo, big bird, oscar and cookie monster) and framed them for the artwork.  We also hung a little teddy bear shelf and my mom made a sesame street quilt and crib sheets to match.  We also hung DS#1s name is bright primary colours above the crib.  We will change it out with DS#2s name once we figure out what it is!  We also switched out the ceiling light fixture to a "antique" sesame street shade that has a very 70s vibe and a pick of bert and ernie playing the drums and guitar.

Inspiration came from the cross-stitch patterns I have had forever.

I had my 1hr GTT on thursday.  I tried calling my docs office for the results on Friday, but they were closed already.  Doc is on call today at the hospital, so I'll get the results tomorrow.  I fully expect that I passed with flying colours.  Next appt is the Sep 11.  I am having lots of BH and I don't like them at all, FTR.  Also feeling pretty exhausted and fighting a cold...oh the joys!

Hi ladies. Happy Monday :) (trying to stay on a positive note lol)

QOTW:  Have you chosen your nursery decor yet?  If yes, what is your theme?  For the ladies that are just early on, have you any basic ideas?  Where do/will you look for inspiration?

I am still pretty early so I have not thought of nursery decor at all. We did just start talking about how we were going to arrage the rooms as my 2 DD's share one.

    Updates or vents

I had my dating u/s this past friday and we got to hear the HB and see it on the screen. Nice and strong at 120 bpm. My only vent is the nausea is kicking my butt. I miss food so much lol

Congrats on the strong healthy hb.  I am sorry you are having such a hard time with the nausea.  Don't be afraid to tell your doc.  I had horrible nausea for the first 11w (felt like I was on a rubber dingy in the middle of the ocean).  I never vomited, but felt like I was going to 24/7.  My doc prescribed an anti-nauseant and it saved my life.

We are doing a sports them per DH's request - very general/vintage - no actual sports teams or sports as the main focus.  Pinterest is good for ideas as well as HGTV's site.  I'm almost done with some football curtains I found on Pinterest, very cute, however as I am on the last step I would have to say I wouldn't attempt to make them again...  tedious nitpicky work left...  however they are very cute.

Update - Dr appt tomm.  after this we move to every 2 weeks - getting closer!!

Vent - MIL told me last night that she has blocked off work from Nov 2nd on for "her baby" so she can come help me...  if I need it of course...  This is very sweet of her and I get that she is excited, however I had told her previously that DH is taking a week off after baby, then my Mom will come for a week if need be and then in the 3rd week she can come if I need the help...Oh...  and it's MY baby btw...  Also, DH registered us for a very expensive bassinet even tho we already have one stored away in case we need it (otherwise plan on using rock-n-play) and before I could remove it from our registry someone bought it, and every accessory for it imaginable...  As it was bought 2 weeks ago and before the shower invites went out I am worried that it was his Mom or Gma that purchased it because I really don't want to offend them when we return it...  I'm irritated with DH about this, and he doesn't understand why we wouldn't keep $300 worth of stuff just because it's cute...

We thought about a theme and were thinking of putting a map wall paper on the wall for the LO. Not sure about anything else yet! :) I think it will depend on the sex of the baby.

13 weeks today! Yipeee!! Nausea still has not gone away and I'm tired all the time. But the light is at the end of the tunnel and I'm looking forward to the 2nd tri! I'm also looking forward to wanting to eat again. My NT scan is Wed and fingers crossed all will be well. :)

QOTW: We are doing an under the sea theme.  The walls are blue and the main color in the room will be orange.  I got the inspiration from a photo that I had made into a painting of my dog at the beach in his orange beach shirt.  I am very excited about it.  Right now DH uses that room for his home office and all of his clothes are in it.  I am hoping that the alterations on the room start this week.

Updates or vents: I just got the results of my NT scan back.  The genetic counselor told me that they are the same as the results of a 20 year old.  I was kind of worried because my cousin's wife is pregnant and the baby is not going to make it.  They will not tell anyone what is wrong with the baby so of course that makes me worry about mine.  Now that I have the NT scan results back, I feel like I wasted my money having the other DNA bloodwork done.

My MS is finally getting better.  I felt like normal yesterday and today it is back but not as bad.  I lost weight according to my last dr. appointment so I am hoping that I can start gaining now that I feel better.

I love the sports theme.  Definitely great for a little boy and it will grow with him, which in my mind is great.  Oh and do we have the same MIL.  Mine is local, but I swear she thinks DS is her kid.  Ever since I brought him home, it's been when DH was a baby he x, y or z, or I did this, that or the other thing.  DH thinks his mom walks on water and he is a total mama's boy that caves to her every whim, so I get no support there.

GL at your NT scan.  It really is pretty amazing what you can see on that scan.  Also, I found when I hit around 12/13 weeks it was like someone flicked a switch and I got some energy back. That lasted til about 28/30w, then the exhaustion set back in!

I love the nursery theme.  There is so much you can do with it.  Congrats on the great NT results.  My results came back less than 1 in 100,000 and that is pretty much as good as they can get.  When I saw them, I thought...."not bad for some 40 year old eggs!".  As for regreting doing the DNA bloodwork, just imagine how relieved you would have been had the NT results not been so stellar.  You can pretty much bet that my Murphy (you know his law) would have shown up with bells on if you hadn't had the bloodwork done and your NT results would have been borderline or within the panic range.  This way you had all your bases covered.  Also, glad to hear the m/s is easing up.  Bring on 2nd tri.

Yes!!! All of the nursery bedding is from RH Child and is their "european embroidered trellis' line in petal pink with matching chandelier.  My theme is very French with soft pinks, oatmeal, ivory, and espresso.

Still to early to know the sex

No set theme for now I still want to know the sex, but if its a boy (which we are hoping for) I may go with something nautical.

I did get to hear/see the heartbeat at our 8 week ultrasound a week ago and now I am just keeping my fingers crossed thats its still beating strong and that we will be able to hear it at my 10 week appointment next week.

This is a scary week for me since it was in the 9th week that we lost our last angel. But I'm staying positive and hoping for the bests!

Welcome to the check in.  Nautical themes for boys are great.  I love red/white/navy, such a nice, strong colour theme and you can do alot with it so it grows with baby.  I understand the scariness of loss milestones.  I suffered my loss at 7w, but it took another month for my body to figure it out and to start to m/c.  I asked my GP for an u/s at 7w this time around just to get some comfort.  Sure enough we saw a strong hb of 178 and then heard it at my app 3w later.  If might take a few minutes, but I am betting that your doc finds baby's hb at your next app with the doppler.  GL.

QOTW: my nursery theme is neutral--- so we went with Alphabet Soup. Found out it was veins discontinued. Very excited to have gotten a floor model in excellent shape at Behr's for $50--- it included valances, bed skirt, sheet, bumpers, quilt, hamper, and lamp. Had it dry cleaned and then washed it myself. Looks great! Purchased matching letter decals for wall and then ordered some vinyl quotes for above the crib and near glider.

Updates: feeling well. Had to take 3 hour glucose test Friday. Hoping for the best but expecting the worst results tomorrow. Appt  with High Risk OB Wed. Will have growth scan and address how we will deal with too low BP.

    Hello ladies :)

QOTW:  Have you chosen your nursery decor yet?  If yes, what is your theme?  For the ladies that are just early on, have you any basic ideas?  Where do/will you look for inspiration?

I think we are falling for the animals or monkey themes this time (DH's first, and he is loving the monkeys). I'm on the fence about my usual bassinet by the bed for the first 3 months and then into the crib in the nursury, or buying a co-sleeper and letting the lil one hang with us longer (and more closely!).  This will be my last, and feels like a miracle baby after the TTC nightmare we had.

Update: I feel like crap, everyday I'm exhausted, emotional, dizzy and nauseaous. I have vivid dreams that usually involve me hiding and crying all night, with the distraught and sad emotions that come with it. I hate coming to work everyday, I just want to stay in bed. I'm also getting very anxious, what am I saying- I have been very anxious about the u/s, which is finally next week. I don't see how I am going to make it another 7 days. So sorry for the vent, thanks in advance for your support.

Have not chosen any decor yet. Leaning towards animals of some sort.  Painters have started to come by for estimates. Room for sure will be some sort of green.

You don't get your results right away?  I would not like that at all.

With you on the feeling tired. Course I have felt that the whole time

Nope, not yet. We have no idea how we're going to reconfigure rooms upstairs. Our room is an off-white, the guest room is a sage green, and DD's room is a medium gray. We're thinking of leaving Dd in her room, and switching our room with the guest room (we have a strange extra room attached to the guest room with laundry in it, I'm not sure I'll be wanting to go through the baby's room to do laundry all the time. But it would make our lives easier to just leave it as is. Although it's smaller than our current bedroom, and our current bedroom would support the full sized bed and a crib, but the guest room would not. We still have some time to think about it!

Had my NT scan yesterday. Looked good from what I know. HB 160. The little gummy bear jumped while on the u/s, which was nice to see. And I know I'm crazy, but I swear I felt this bear move late last week. I know "they" say you can feel movement earlier with a second, but I didn't feel DD until I was about 18 weeks. Also, I'm going to have to find a maternity bathing suit. I signed my daughter and I up for swimming lessons! I'm excited.

Welcome to the check-in.  I was a first time mom at 38 and we are expecting the final addition to our family this November.  I am now 41.  Let me tell you pg at 40 is alot harder than it was at 38.  I hope the rest of your pg is happy, healthy and boring!  Congrats on the Maternit21 results.

I hope your results are much better than you expect.  I just found out a couple of minutes ago that I failed my 1hr.  It was only by a few points, so my doc has elected to send me for the 2hr (I guess he expects me to pass this one).  Yay, I guess I get to do that Friday am.  Oh joy!

I love the monkey theme.  So super cute.  I am so sorry you are having such a rough go.  I have had a really tough pg this time around too and it is overwhelming, emotionally exhausting and physically tough.  I understand totally where you are coming from and hope that as you leave first tri things get better.  In the meantime, we are here for you...vent away.

No and that is completely normal here.  The results are faxed from the lab to your OBs office the day after your test.  Just so happens my docs office was already closed for the day when I called and the doc was on call on Monday, so that meant the earliest I could get the results was today, even though the doc had them since Friday.  No big deal really, I could have waited til they called me or my next appt, if they were negative.  Turns you I barely failed (I am stunned - maybe I shouldn't have had those corn pops for breakfast after all).  I have to go for the 2hr on Friday.  It's a holiday weekend here, so he probably won't have the results til Tuesday of next week at the earliest.

Going a little crazy waiting for Dr's appointment next week. Did any of you skip the multiple screening tests and go straight to the diagnostics? I don't know if I can stand to wait. I feel like it would be nice to just know and quit worrying.

Have a little bit of a sore hip. Did a relay walk over the weekend. I walked about 10 miles which is not really that much for me, but my left hip feels sore in the joint. Usually if I have an achy hip it is in the ligament that runs across the front of the hip, so I suspect this is a pregnant symptom.

Usually if I have an achy hip it is in the ligament that runs across the front of the hip, so I suspect this is a pregnant symptom.

I like your nursery ideas.  Both are a great starting point.

As for your question about screening vs diagnostic tests.  I live in Canada, so my options are different than many of the ladies in the US.  Niether the MaterniT21 nor Harmony nor verifi blood tests for the trisomies are available here.  If you want a diagnostic test, you have to do either a CVS or Amnio, both of which carry m/c risk and neither of which is available in my centre.  I would have to travel an hour or so to get one of these tests, but a dr that was a pro, but that I didn't know.

Obviously based on this I opted for the Integrated Prenatal Screening.  It involves a blood test at 12ish w (at the same time as your NT scan u/s), and then another blood test at 14/16w.  These numbers along with the nuchal measurement and my age were fed into a computer and the results came back with a less than 1 in 100,000 risk of a trisomy or spina bifida.  Not bad for a 41 year old chickie!  Had the results been more than 1 in 250, then I would have opted for an amnio.

Personally, I still would have done the IPS, even if I could have had the MaterniT21 or another diagnostic blood test.  I'd do the IPS first and have the other diagnostic test if I felt the odds were stacked against me.  This is just my view though, I know alot of ladies have to know and need to know sooner rather than later.  In that case if one of the diagnostic blood tests is available to you, go with that.

Whatever you decide odds are in your favour that your baby is just fine, try to stay positive until you know you have something to worry about.

Thanks Benoitfan for the well wishes and hopes for "normal" pregnancy. I don't want to say too much to jinx it (and be less understanding to those who are having it harder), but first trimester was so easy for me and all our test results have been great. I keep waiting for the other shoe to drop, honestly and something to hit hard: Until then, I count my blessings and take them as they come. Hope you are feeling better!

If it's a girl, I'm all about multiple shades of purple :) A boy- vintage race car theme. (DH is a huge gearhead) I look all over for inspiration. I'm chomping at the bit to recover a lamp right now- lol! Can't wait to find out the sex.

We are doing an "ocean" theme and using the Ahoy Mate bedding from Nojo.  I bought wall decals of sailboats, whales, scuba divers (for my DF) and sea turtles.  I plan to use the bumpers from the bedding set as my window valances.  I am waiting for my MIL to arrive in a about at week to help me with those.

Updates or vents? I am 37 weeks with 20 days left!!! I had my last U/S growth scan on Monday.  Baby boy is still head down (since 30 weeks) and he's so low they could not get an accurate head measurement.  They estimate him currently at 7 lbs 7 oz. so he's still on track to be 9 lbs. EEK! All is well healthwise though and I am super thankful for that.

My last day at work is this Friday and boy am I ready! I've almost got everything done that I can and I'm pretty sick of sitting here being uncomfortable.  It will be nice to be home and get enough rest!
