Are there any safety rules for purchasing a mattress for a four year old? Does it have to be firm? Can he have a memory foam if he wants it? Etc. I haven't seen anything for preschooler's but of course remember there were guidelines for his crib mattreess. Any tips?
What is a reasonable amount to spend? I want to get him something decent but it isn't going to be forever. Ty

We didn't get anything with memory foam, but it wasn't for safety. For DS1 we spent around $300 on his mattress, for the twins we spent around $150 each. Eventually we'll get the twins new mattresses and they'll be the nicer $300 ones that I wanted.
