pull ups for smallish 16 month old

My DD is 16 months old.  She has been doing very well with getting comfortable with using the potty.  She stays dry most nights (10 hours) and during naps.  She loves M&M's and we only give those to her if she pees on the potty.  She asks to go frequently throughout the day (probably for M&M's at this point, but she often goes).  There are many days when she goes on the potty more times than her diaper.  There are also many times when she says she needs to go and we don't make it in time as it takes forever to get her clothes and diaper off.

I would like to try pull-ups, but can't find any smaller than 2T and she wears 18 months clothing and size 4 diapers.  I don't really know where to begin.  Any suggestions?  Thanks in advance!

The Huggie slip ons come pretty small although not exactly sure the sizes. That being said, Hadley has been going to the potty some and I tried the slip ons, but I think they are much more work than diapers, but that's just my thought.

ETA: At Hadley's age I'm pretty sure it's EC and not potty training, didn't want to come off that my 13 month old is potty training...

Thanks for your reply.  Can you share why you think they are more work than diapers?  Also, I started with my LO around 12 months or so.  I don't pressure her, but kind of follow her lead and it's going very well.

With pull ups/slip ons you need to take off pants/shorts etc rather than just pulling them down to open and close a diaper.  If you aren't making it to the potty in time I would suggest just putting her in dresses so its easier to take the diaper off.  The pull ups are also not much fun to pull off when there is poop involved.

Good points!  I think we'll stick with diapers for a while.  At this point, I have 0 expectations that she'll be potty trained.  I look at it as a good experience for her and a chance to save a little money on diapers for us.

  • Pull ups or the slip-ons are more expensive than the normal diapers, too.

We bought a pack of the size 3 huggies slip-ons. They fit okay, but I don't like them. DH bought them because they came in a smaller package and we only use disposables when travelling.
