Need time management tips

Hi Ladies!  I need some help from some experienced moms.

Right now, DH and I have been off for the summer.  However, i go back to work in mid September and he goes back right after Labor Day.  Sometimes he doesn't get home from working 2 jobs until 8 or 9 pm.

I need tips on how I can manage it all:  children, laundry, pumping, cooking, food shopping, cleaning, etc.  Any time saving tips would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Need time management tips

  • I don't know how we are going to do it either.  DH goes back to work Mon, I go back to school Thurs full time and will be working a couple of nights.  We have a nanny for 2 1/2 days so she will help us with dishes/laundry but there isn't much time for anything else when you are alone with these 2!

  • I SAH but I DH works 6 days a week so I do pretty much everything on my own. I can't comment on the working component, but I'd look into Peapod for groceries if I were you... they deliver. I've never used them but I know people that have and they said it was a lifesaver. As for everything else... if you have time in the morning, you can throw laundry in and put it on a timer so that it goes while you're gone. Prep dinner the night before after the kids go to bed. Make larger meals so that you can eat leftovers either for lunches or for another dinner during the week. There's a blog called Once a Month Mom about taking one day and pretty much cooking for most of the month and putting meals in the freezer... you could try that. There's another blog, I think it's called Totally Together, that gives tips for 7 things to do a day to keep up with the house so you don't have to do deep cleaning as much. Other than that, I'm sure you'll fall into a rhythm once you get used to it and in the beginning, just let some things go... your house doesn't have to be perfect. You just have to get through the week. GL!
