I got the Diaper Genie II for a gift and I like it. It's nice to not have to take diapers immediately downstairs. When baby starts eating solids though, diapers go straight outside.
We used Diaper Champ with DS and will with this LO as well. It takes just regular trash bags, whereas the Diaper Genie needs to have its own brand of replacement bags.
Unless it's a pain to get to your outside garbage (if you live in an apartment or something, I don't know...), I don't think they're worth it.
We let pee diapers stay in the house garbage because that gets emptied often enough, but poop diapers go outside. Actually, if it's pretty solid, sometimes I just shake it into the toilet and leave the diaper in the house garbage anyway.

I just had an "a-ha" moment and feel like just an idiot now. We live in a 1st floor small condo with an attached garage so it is very easy to just bring the dirty diaper outside. With all of experiences I have had with infants throughout my life, I can't believe I didn't think of this obvious solution.
I blame the darn suggested registry lists. They suggest such ridiculous items that it gets my head in a spin and I don't think rationally.

Glad to hear this. I registered for the DC because it used regular bags. It is nice to know you would use it again.

This! although I agree with PP that once baby starts eating any sort of solid food, poopy diapers go to our outside trash, and simply wet ones are the only kind we let stay in the house. It took a while, but our dog eventually figured out how to knock it over to get the "goodies" inside... but we just close the nursery door if we leave the house, and it's no problem.

This. I liked it for DD and I'll use it for DS
