C-sections

Cramping pain post c-sec

Hello ladies! I had my first baby/first c-sec on Monday, August 6 (so 17 days ago) and since then I have noticed I am having some pretty noticeable/painful cramping when I go to the bathroom. At first, I had menstrual like cramps when I was waiting to go to the bathroom for the first time post-op. I thought it was just constipation related pain. TMI-but now I get it even when I urinate-like when I relax my bladder I get these painful cramps that shoot through my pelvic region. Please tell me I am not alone here and its something "normal" like my uterus shrinking back again? I am going to call my OB tomorrow morning, but I was hoping for some peace of mind before then. TIA!

Re: Cramping pain post c-sec

  • Hey, me too! I just asked my doc about this two days ago and she said it's likely due to the healing process. I don't recall having it with my past c/s but I am with this one. Not super comfortable, but it'll go away I hope.

Ps. Our babies have the same birthday!

Pps. Are you still bleeding or just spotting or nothing? I am bleeding brown/dark blood, mostly in the evenings. Wondering if others are to, at 2.5 weeks pp?

Thats what I was hoping :)

    Yay for birthday buddies!

I am having the exact same bleeding as you at this point as well. So I am assuming this is normal! :)

  • I had this with both of my c-sections. It's like an ache/cramp that's deep in my stomach.  My theory (and it may be far fetched) is that when my bladder is full it takes up more space and maybe moves my uterus or other "plumbing" then as I empty it things shift just a bit causing the cramping.

I dunno... seems somewhat plausible, no?

For what it's worth, it does get better.  But I'm 3.5 weeks PP and it still happens sometimes.

ps - keep gas meds in the house too because if you should have gas those cramps may bring you to your knees.  Everything is just so sensitive right now.

I second this. Nobody warned be about these, and I honestly thought I might be dying for a minute.
