What the heck is this sharp pain....

Ok guys you know I am trying really really hard to keep this baby inside for one more week.

So on the top of my belly I have this sharp pain it feels like someone is stabbing me with a knife. They come and go pretty quickly and then that area is just sore. Please someone tell me that this is just growing pains or something. I did call and leave a message for the doctor's nurse but wanted to throw it out there just in case you all know this is nothing to be concerned about.

Could it be the baby kicking in a new area it hasn't been able to reach before and causing a nerve to go haywire? I get little jabs that take my breath away once in a while...and the entire top portion of my bump feels like someone punched it....

Sorry I couldn't be more helpful. A call to your doctor never hurts in a weird situation that has you worried

Does it only happen when you breath in? I used to get something like that all the time pre-pregnancy. I would breath in and it would feel like someone was stabbing me in the ribs.

It might just be gas pains too, or baby kicking a new spot.

I think I have a bruised rib or something, not from Baby kicking but from my uterus pushing up under/against my ribs. It is really sore, especially when I'm sitting and everything is all scrunched up. My mw just said that it'll get worse before it gets better, but it is nothing to be worried about. It aches more than shoots pain, though. 

However, when I am gassy (like right now ) I get sharp pains all over -- abdomen, up around my ribs, even into my chest.

Not sure if any of these are what you're dealing with, but I thought I'd throw out a few more theories

It doesn't sound like contractions. The baby could be kicking or stretching. Also could be growing pains. If you are really concerned though, call ur dr.

Thanks guys, I think it is baby kicking in a new spot. She is moving around like crazy so maybe it is just her. Still waiting for the nurse to call me back just to make sure now I feel stupid.

I've been having those today too.  My LO is really high so I attribute it to growing pains (more pressure on my ribs) and I'm gassy today too so I know that adds to it.  Hope you feel better soon.

I got that same feeling on Monday. I got up to take a shower, and every time I moved there was a sharp pain on the top of my uterus. I sat down in the shower and relaxed for a few minutes, and then it went away. Idk what it was...

I get it too... also I sometimes get like a burning type feeling in the top of my bump (mostly during a contraction) weird. Lots of little weird feeling and stuff now. Almost done!!

I get the same thing. Hurts like hell! I attribute it to either gas or random pregnancy weirdness.

Thank you for saying this.  Mine started a few days ago, glad to know it's normal. I never quite know what to think about all these new sensations that seem to come out of nowhere.
