I'm sure this is a stupid question, but as a FTM I was just wondering. I'm 39 weeks 4 days. I had my check up yesterday and I was 2 cm dilated and 70% effaced and had bleed a lot afterwards. I've been having a lot of contractions last that were starting to be pretty regular every 8 to 9 minutes and lasting almost a minute. Some so bad they woke me up at 2 in the morning. Thinking this was labor I went back to sleep so I could rest up and in the morning they had completely stopped. I've had some more contractions on and off today but nothing like last night and not as regular. I've had tons of Braxtons these past few weeks and I've heard that when it's the real thing I'd know, and that's what I thought last night was. Is it possible that labor started and stopped or are those were just really mean convincing BHs? Thanks so much for your help.
Re: Can labor stop due to sleeping?
I don't know if this totally answers your question, but during labor I was so exhausted I fell asleep between contractions occasionally. Definitely woke up with each contraction though, and the falling asleep didn't slow things down.
A couple weeks before the real deal I had contractions that were every 10 minutes for several hours but they eventually went away. I thought it might be the start of labor since they were consistent and time-able, but it wasn't. Contractions during labor were much more intense/painful.
